Prakash Bhatt's Review On Sikkim Manipal University - [SMU], East Sikkim

I have bad remarks about my college which is that the conditions of our institute is not se much good like other institute have. Even though I got Vidyadeep Scholarship from SMU-DE. I opt for it because I was working with some organisation,company and because of which I can't take regular classes as well. Though I thought to opt for Distance Education. When I search for DE, I found that Sikkim Manipal University listed at the top in the field of Distance Education. So I chose it.

I didn't took any examination.

If we go through the course curriculum then I must say that the standard of BCA is never been easy then B.Tech in CS. In SMU-DE I found that the course structure is 90% same as B.Tech students in regular courses. And Yes a big Thanks to the teachers. Faculties I am dealing with are very well knowledgeable and of the same field as of mine. I got full support from my teachers in study as well as in other things.

Personally till now I have not gone through any internship program in my college. May be I will be provided with various internship programs in this semester as my seniors do got. So I have no idea about it yet.

If I talk about placements then believe me. Sikkim Manipal University provides the best placements in India if compare to other Distance Education providing Universities. We have placements from companies like IBM, Airtel, Vodafone, Accenture, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Reliance etc with a good package.

As we have classes in a Institute called Web Univ Infotech. We didn't ever celebrate that huge pomp and shows like in other universities with regular classes. But we celebrate festivals like Diwali,Holi,New Year and Birthdays of our classmates with huge pomp and show.

We have fees structure which is best for everyone. As I am in BCA, I have to pay only 12K approx for each semester. Which is much lesser than my school fees.

Yeah we have Vidyadeep Scholarship provided to everyone who scored more than 60% in 12th exams. But if we talk about any loan facility then there is no such facility available yet.

No such extracurricular activities ever happened. I don't think that in future such activities will ever happen. As it is just a institute working as a learning center for various universities.

There is no hostel and mess facility. But we have many PG's around our institute which offer best quality rooms at affordable prices with wifi and 24x7 water and electricity supply.

Seniors are very good. They are very supportive and very helpful. They support us in our field of study and made us know about various programs and courses which are helpful for us.

Exam Structure is based on Semester System. We have 2 semester in a year. When exams dates draw near we have the option to chose Exam Centre Exam Dates and time of our own choice. Also we don't have to deal with old pattern or written exams on paper. We have to give exams on PC's provided by Exam Center. Which personally I like the best method of exam.
