Eligibility of the course is to get 60% marks in physics, chemistry and biology in H.S. Since the seat are limited the director of medical education Assam published a merit list and conducted counselling at six mile, Guwahati for an 85% state quota. Notices are available in ntaneet.nic.in.
Course Curriculum Overview
The total course duration is 50 months. There are a total of 9 semesters and 1 year internship. I choose this course because I love doctors profession. There are 19 departments which teach their respective subjects. Each department has lecturers as 1 Head of the Department aged from 50-60 years with around 30-40 years experience.
Internships Opportunities
Internship program is one of the best thing that a medical College provides us. completion of 50 months MBBS course, institute provides us with intership facility for 1 year with a stipend of around 30k per month. It doesnt depend on the marks. But yes, we have to pass the final exams. After intership we have to go for a compulsory rural posting for 1 year. In rural posting we are deginated as MO, medical officer.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for government medical Colleges are very low which everyone can afford. Every year around 30k has to give to the institute as admission fees. We have to pay fees only once a year during the beginning of seasons. We also have to pay extra fees for books notebooks, logbooks. We do get scholarships from organisations like the ministry of NSP. From NSP we get at least 30 k per year.
Campus Life
The main enjoyable time for a medical student is medifest. In the month of March college is used to conduct every year. There are outdoor and indoor sports facilities, available on campus. students union conduct various sports, dance, song competitions. There is a central library with various books and smaller department libraries. IT labs for computing. The gender ratio of male: female is 3:1. There are no reservations for girls in medical Colleges, everyone comes by merit.
Hostel Facilities
Medical College hostels are very good. Rooms have sufficient space available. Toilets are clean and hygienic. The hostel is allotted by the college authority. Mess foods are tasty and provide both vegetarian and non vegetarian foods. In our hostel we have 163 rooms out of which 51 are double rooms and the rest all are single rooms.
