Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS was a dream of not only my family, my dad or my relatives, but it was an aim to achieve for me! I always wanted to become a doctor and so I worked for it, thanks to Allah,my parents obviously as without them it wasn't possible. We have AETCOM, ECE, SDL, SGT classes which teaches us to become not only good doctors but also a good clinician, a good leader and serve the patients with the best. One thing the curriculum can do for the benefit of the students is to provide the basic infrastructure of this college and work for its betterment to become a good and renowned place of education. Be consistent, be hardworking, don't give up and the throne is yours. It's a long journey. Choose mental peace over everything.
Internships Opportunities
Internship can be done after final year as the course of MBBS is of. Once you become an intern, there is no free time in your schedule. You have to attend the hospital 24*7 for 365/366 days of the year. No excuses can be made if it's about duty! I am still in second year yet to become an intern.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't receive any scholarship though I applied for a few during my first year! Hostel fees is 2300 per month, we paid an admission fees of around 25,000 to the college. Apart from that examination and registration fees for the university are separate. We don't have seperate fee paying pattern according to our reservation.Fee structure is same for all including OBC, SC, ST, EWS. Apart from all these, rest of your day to day costs have to be totally managed by you as there is no such thing as scholarship benefits from the college or any other thing.
Campus Life
There are not many places to explore in barpeta as it's a small place unlike big cities like Guwahati. There are a number of cafes and dine out where you can visit with your friends and family. A few malls. But there is no Zomato, swiggy neither there is any cinema hall in this place.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities provided in hostel? NIL. From drinking water to your cravings, you have to pay with your pocket money. A few water plants have been inserted recently though. Electricity system is horrible as it keeps going even during exams. The water system gets shut sometimes in case, you have to go to college with no water to freshen up. There is a handpump ground floor though. Rest hostel facilities are extremely poor specially the Sutlej wing where they keep the new first years every year. You can register for hostel by coming to the hostel itself and contacting the caretaker or hostel superintendent.
Admission
I had applied to 12 other medical Colleges in Assam during the choice filling of counselling. My first preference was GMCH as it is where o reside but couldn't make there due to the cut off. I chose this college as it was at a distance of three hours from my home and near compared to all the other medical Colleges in Assam. Admission process is according to the steps to be followed after neet counselling as the notice released by NMC and the DME of Assam in their website. Cut off Is increasing every coming year!
Faculty
There are around 60-70 professors in the college. Apart from the that clinical professors and practitioners are seperate. Faculties are easy and friendly and are approachable. Among the faculties I liked were Chinmoyee ma'am, Kakoli ma'am from physiology. There are many but it's not possible to write their names individually of course. During our time, the university introduced a new curriculum named prelims i.e similar to the first professional MBBS exam just 3 months before the finals. Apart from that we have internal assessments within a span of every 3 months. Also formative and part completion tests. Practical exams are held seperately. The course is not that easy but if you are sincere from the beginning you can definitely make through it.
