CMRIT from an eye of an Amazon SDE Intern

I got admission through COMED-K. My rank was 18000+. I had opted for Information Science and Engineering at Acharya Institute of Technology in the first round of counselling. In the second round, I opted for the same at CMR Institute of Technology.

The class strength is 60. Teachers are well qualified. The term exams are scheduled by the VTU and not by the college. The internal assessments are well spaced and designed to prepare us well for the term exams.

There are companies offering internships cum full time employment and then there are companies offering internships and based on the performance during the internship, the full time offer would be rolled out. This is only when you come in the final year and not before that. You will have to find one off-campus if you are looking for it prior to your final year. Based on the new VTU scheme, you would be required to do two internships during your coursework and you would be informed of the specific time when you would need to do one.

Students are eligible for placements from the 7th sem onwards with few opportunities opening up in the 6th sem. The placement statistics are made available on the college site here. The average package offered is around 7LPA. The training and the placement department has programs in place to prepare the students in various aspects like soft skills, aptitude, logical reasoning, etc to name a few.

The KCET and COMED-K fees structure is very similar to that of other colleges in Karnataka. I got an on-campus internship opportunity at Amazon who offered a stipend of 80K per month. I had also got an on-campus full-time opportunity at Deloitte whose package was 7.6LPA.

Cultura is the annual cultural fest of the college. There are various other events like Aura (an inter-departmental cultural fest conducted mostly in December), Spardha (an inter-college sports fest) and Jwala (the ethnic day on Diwali). There are projectors in all classrooms. The library is huge! There are a bunch of clubs conducting events in all areas be it technical or non-technical (literature, art, music).
