Remarks

The first step was to clear JEE mains then JEE ADVANCED. After the results of JEE ADVANCED there will be counselling round which will be the main step towards the admission process. There will be a total of 7 rounds in this process. The portal of JEE will give you a list of all colleges for which you are eligible for for the counselling round. You have to choose between the collegees and their respective branches. Keep in mind that this should be done in a very disciplined manner, you cannot afford any mistake here. However JOSAA counselling give you a mock round also. So you have to be choose colleges with their respective branches. The mistake what i did was i haven't opted for petroleum branch in IIT-ISM DHANBAD which I regret even now. So be careful with the branches of the Colleges. Do research, take help from seniors and everything. I got my seat in IIT-ISM DHANBAD in 5th round of the counselling process. You have to go to any neighbour IIT to carry forward the admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

So IIT-ISM DHANBAD introduced Btech in chemical engineering in 2010. So it is still growing and developing with time. Faculties are good but you have to put your efforts at the end. We have a small batch of around 40 students in my batch. In covid time we have done classroom courses online only so I cannot give you the exact feedback of our branch faculties but they are overall ok with respect to the online system.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There will be plenty of IT sector companies and some business/ marketing analytics companies which will offer you a good stipend for the internship offer. The roles for the IT sector companies are mostly software engineers and. For analytics companies, it would be a business analyst.

Placement Experience

3.5

Talking about internships and placements. From the 3rd year onwards (5th sem) generally, internship opportunities are available for the students. And from final year (7th sem) placement process begins. Every year the number of companies and the number of students placed are getting higher. Especially for the IT sector, it is increasing at a very fast rate.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are like Rs 1,07,100 for the winter semester (Jan-may) and Rs 1,10,700 for the monsoon semester(aug-nov) for BTech in chemical engineering in IIT-ISM DHANBAD for the general category for sc/st category tuition fee is waived off i.e, Rs 1,00,000 per semester so the fees of sc/st students would be Rs 7100 for the winter semester and Rs10,700 for monsoon semester. For the general category whose family income is less than 6lpa would be beneficial with mcm scholarship i.e, they will be avail a discount on tuition fees.

Campus Life

4

So I've lived my campus life for only 6 months then after covid arrived. There are 2 main fests in our college first is CONCETTO (tech fest) and SRIJAN ( cultural fest). Both were really good and I had enjoyed both of them. Talking about the clubs in our college, as far as I know, there is a club for everything, dance, street dance, singing, debate, art, dramatics, poetry etc. And many sports clubs are also there like volleyball, basketball, badminton, cricket etc. IIT-ISM has Asia's second largest technical library in which you will find every book you're looking for. It has 7 floors and each floor is well equipped with ac and other facilities.

Hostel Facilities

3

So talking about the hostel facilities I would say they are basically only not up to the mark as such. But overall they are ok. There will be 2 beds in a room in the jasper hostel (allotted to first year boys), 1 almirah, 1 table, 1 chair, and a window. There will be a laundry service available for the hostel students at their hostel. Mess food is like all other mess foods( I won't elaborate this part, hope you get it).

Placements in our college start from 7th sem, some internships in 6th too. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Capgemini visited. Highest package around 12 LPA, average 3.5–4 LPA. About 70–75% students placed, others go for higher study or govt exams. My plan is to try campus first, then off?campus or masters later.

Mechanical branch in terms of number of students placed is quite high but if it is about how many students get elite packages it's less. The average for our branch at our college is 8-9 lakhs but top companies which are into our core space for long are our college partners.

My plans after degree is to pursue masters or right away get on with my family business as we are already into trading chemicals. However, from the number of students from our stream that apply for jobs through campus, over 80% are placed from campus. Labs to industries that deals in manufacturing of chemicals and exporting the same are the ones where students of our college get the opportunity.

Highest package from our campus is eye catching as it's 56 lakhs and for chemical branch it was 34 lakhs. HUL, Sun Pharma, public limited labs and various R&D research centres are those that have helped us to get best available jobs in market as the competition is high but BIT Mesra has still managed to place over 80% students last year.

From second semester we are taken for an hour session for special training. It is optional till 4th semester but from 5th semester onwards, it becomes mandatory and we have no choice but to go through that hammer. Finally, from the last year's 1st semester companies starts coming and we can apply for the same and that is how placements are done here.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities is decent for students. The placement of BIT sindri varies from branch to branch but the core brances like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering has evergreen placements. Among the eligible students around 90 percent students get placed. But in branches like civil and production engineering, its not the same. They have very low placement rate around 20 to 30% of eligible students get placement. For CSE, IT & ECE the placement is highly dependent on the situation of market and it varies early. The students are eligible from 6 the semester onwards for placement . The placement drive starts from August or September and companies visit till students graduate. The top recruiters are TCS with more than 80 students from overall campus , TATA power nearly 20 , LNT, JSW , Vedanta , TATA STEEL, JSL, ADANI, ABG , Shyam steel and For it sector companies like samsung , cognisant, hitachi, TCs, Spyder visited for 2k21 batch. For the batch 2020-2024 among batch size of 710 around 620 offers were made. The highest package is given by samsung which is around 28 LPA , students of CSE, IT, ECE and Electrical are eligible.
