Remarks

There are two ways to take admission in this college, State quota (entrance through IGMC Shimla) and management quota(direct admission). State quota seats have benefits of almost 30-40% concession on the total fee. I was from state quota some total (tuition hostel transportation mess etc.) The fee was 1,20,200 the management quota seat students paid 1,52,400 per year. Students with reservations like IRDP have bigger concessions, like state quota plus IRDP have to pay only 96000 per year. For a state quota seat, an entrance examination is held for IGMC nursing in July-august(form-1600 general category and 800 for SC).

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

BSc Nursing is a professional course with a guaranteed job opportunity with a stable wage. The faculty of the college is great, there are two coordinators for every class who are always there to listen to every problem of students related to a leave application or any big or small complaints or any problem like if there's a subject teacher you want to change or switch with any other, they can do that. Faculty members are well qualified and experienced main subjects like Medical Surgical Nursing and Community Health Nursing, Pharma or Pathophysiology are taught by highly qualified teachers. Pharmacology, Pathology, genetics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology like subjects are taught by PhD carrying Dr Vikas Sood sir. There are three terms exams every year and tests daily for assessment. The first and second terminal feels quite tough to pass but after the third terminal, we are very well prepared for the final exams whether we talk about speed or temptation.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

In the internship year, the students are sent to community health centres (Mashobra), gynaecology nursing care, and medical-surgical nursing. Many practical exams are held and projects and surveys are to be done.

There's a nice Library on the ground floor it has great magazines, novels, journals, newspapers, gk books and great books for syllabus and other medical studies. Almost every classroom has smart boards. There are great labs (nutrition lab, paediatrics lab, OBG, AV aids room etc) which includes everything you'll need in a particular subject lab. Annually Nurses week is celebrated in the first week of May with some indoor and outdoor competition and fun activities including mehndi competition speech hairdo competition indoor and outdoor games dances etc for the whole week. Other than that Freshers farewell and introduction of new members to older ones is also celebrated. Christmas is also very well celebrated in the college. Great lunch is served during navratra and Shradh weeks. Children's day and teachers days are also celebrated well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course, bsc nursing is very common these days because of the job opportunities and money. This is the same reason for me to take this course and also I like biology subject so I thought it will be easier for me to study nursing. But actually it's very different. We need to work really hard in this field. It's very hard to study. We need to focus more on studying other than anything. I just got into the college. It's been only 2 months so we are only having weakly tests now. And the tests are ok. Most of the students get passed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Nursing is all about skills, and the more practice you do, the better...i spent most of my time in hospital with patients for at least 9 months ever year....the duty used to be of 6 hours and the rest 2 hours we used to have a class till 4 pm Ut was a bit hectic but it really helped me in clearing all my concepts and improving my skills in handling a patient also the internship program is like cherry on top so good it covers everything you learn in 4 years and makes you ready for the outer world....I would say in terms of improvement, they need to reschedule their classes and clinicals timing because it gets draining and we don't get much time to study, so we usually just study because we used to be so exhausted.
