Remarks
I got admission to the course via the CET examination. My score was average. I took the admission to this college because I have heard that the laboratories here were very good as well as the staff was very experienced. This was true however to some extent. The practicals that took place in the labs were very restrictive and did not let us have any creative freedom. Because the college follows the Mumbai University curriculum, the syllabus is mostly outdated and most of the processors, however knowledgeable they are, do not care much about their teaching methods. In my time of 3 years, I have only met 2-3 processors who actually enjoyed teaching and willing to put an effort into the doubts asked by the students. The campus is very small, there is a ground owned by the college that is not attached to the college that is used for the festivals and activities, however because of the lockdown we never got to experience the extracurricular activities. The placement cell was not very helpful.
Course Curriculum Overview
The courses are outdated, however, the college has a good library. The faculty members mostly do not care much about the students and their participation. The exams were conducted according to the MU curriculum and even if you started studying the book 2-3 days before the exam you are good to go. The course was very restrictive in its structure and lack creative freedom. Most of the things need to be roted and even without understanding the subject you can easily score a good pointer, hence the pointer is not at all the indicator of your knowledge. You need to join different clubs and do internships on your own if you really want to have hands on experience as expecting this experience from the college or faculty or even from the university is a mistake. The assignments and projects are purely mindless work.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the college are quite high, considering you are not from a minority or have a low income. If you look at the course Structure and the facility given by the college, they do not live up to the fees. The college has out of date laboratories and poor infrastructure. It is not very affordable for the general students. The campus placement cell is not helpful at all in giving you internship opportunities or the jobs secured in your field. Very limited jobs are available and the companies are mostly IT or Computer science related. Even the Students of the branches of mechanical or electrical engineering have to opt for such jobs because there is no other option. Finally, all the internships you might want to do during your college all need to be done on your own as the college does not provide that opportunity.
Campus Life
The clubs are the only place in college where you can apply your knowledge and learn something practical in return. There are a lot of clubs and student bodies in the college, such as ASME, SAE, Robotics club, IIIE etc. Once you become a part of them you learn technical skills, management skills etc. The social life of College is good, I have met a lot of similar minded people on campus. A yearly event of Zodiac takes place where you have a lot of activities to do, unfortunately, however, due to covid, we did not experience a lot of these events. The seniors are very helpful, and will gladly guide you throughout the college. A lot of the seniors I have known I am still in touch with even after college. So choose your friends wisely, as it is very important to have a good study group you can rely on and study with.
