Remarks

College overall management is very good, helpful and supportive. All queries and concern are addressed on priority basis. All announcement and activities communicated timely. College staffs, professors and management are really very helpful and supportive. My experience was very good however i would request admin to expand and communicate their sports level program so that maximum students can participate, grow and their hidden talent can come out by these opportunities.

Entrance Preview

There is a DU Common Admission form needs to be filled by student mentioning the percentage of marks secured in Senior Secondary and subject in which you are interested in to take admission. DU announces cut off list based on the percentage of marks and courses available in individual colleges. There were total of 4 cut off lists being announced by DU with a gap of 5 days between 2 cut off. I have got eligible for admission in 2nd cut off list based on my percentage and courses i chose. I chose B.Sc applied science which was being offered by 2 colleges only. 1. ARSD college 2. Deshbandhu college. I chose deshbandhu college as it is well known for its faculty and nearest to my home location.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum was well organised and focused on practical knowledge to be given during the course. It was prepared by experienced professor and faculty by keeping the student understanding and development in overall. The course is highly inter-disciplinary. You will have to study Maths, Physics , Chemistry/Computer Science/ Electronics as the three main subjects during the course and Biology throughout the second year ,and a subject other than your third main subject during the final year. Its a good course no doubt with physics , maths and one more subject be it cs, chemistry etc.and has good career opportunities if one does masters with specialisation in same.

Internships Opportunities

Till end of 2010, I wont say placement cells are that good or very good companies hired students from DBC. But yes, placements have been improved and students have been provided with opportunities to work with good companies after 2012. Since i'm passed out in 2010 only, so cant say about stipend and process.

Placement Experience

2.5

I didn't see any good placement till the time i was studied there. However, as I heard from few of my junior friends, placements have been improved and students have been provided with opportunities to work with good companies after 2012. Since i'm passed out in 2010 only, so cant say about company name and packages.

College Events

3.5

There are number of activities use to happen during the year. Major of them are:- 1. Fresher Party - where senior welcomes to new joiner/first year students and initiate towards engagement. 2. Technical Seminars - Science faculty use to organise seminars on various topics by experts outside the college and share their experience and journey. 3. College Student Union election - This happens in 3rd quarter of every year where members of Student Union are elected by college students by voting. Preparation of the election starts a month before and each student has to vote for candidate who works for students issues and take them upto management level. 4. Outing - Faculty organise a students outing once in a year where we explore new places and engage with each other and have lot of fun & activities where all students and teachers participate together. 5. Cultural Festival - College management organise Cultural Festival and celebrated at the end of every year where celebrities of bollywood are invited to perform.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is very feasible and affordable and varies from course to course. At my time, it was Rs 4500/- course fee per year and Rs.1000/- examination fee per year (For B.Sc applied Science). To enrol for any addition activity going, additional registration fee (as specified in the program to be paid)

Fees and Financial Aid

College provide scholarship to those who secures excellent rank in their college exams and sports activities. Those students who are part of college sports team and play well, administration provides relaxation to them and motivate them by giving rewards and scholarships. College do not provide and loan facility.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is awesome at DBC. We can see students being in extra curricular activities at times. Labs were provided to all the field, rather we say about computers, chemical or physics or mathematics. Debates were also organised couple of times in a year to take out the talent hidden inside a student. In DBC, Gender ratio is like 10:7. I would say there are 7 females per 10 males in a classroom/group.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Deshbandhu College did not have any hostel facility till 2010. So cant say anything if they have now. Canteen food was good and at reasonable price. Chairs and tables are found clean always with no messy food. Sitting arrangements and nearby area was good.

Alumni/Alumna

My Seniors have always been very supportive and encouraging. They helped us understand and explain whenever we needed by providing notes and reference book. They shared their experience to teach us and helped to learn major things. Though most of them are not in our contact anymore however there are still few with whom i'm in contact.

Exam Structure

Exams are always well structured and planned. Exam dates used to commenced a month before the exam start date. Students were aligned to examination hall based on the strength and roll no of the students in alphabetical order. Discipline is always strictly followed during the exam and lectures. If talk about practicals, i always found clean lab with all required equipments available at the time of practical. Professor and assistant are always available to help and explain incase of any doubt. We keep of waiting practical periods because those give real time learning and more understanding towards a topic.

Admission

I took print out copy of second cut off list along with originals and copy of all certificates and marksheets and visited to admission counter of college on specified date (as per DU CAF). I submitted all relevant copies and original along with the admission fess once they verified their list and provided me with an acknowledgement slip. Overall process of admission was not that hectic as i assumed. it was well organised and everyone was so helpful in administration.

Faculty

4.5

Deshbandhu college has a very good and qualified professor specially in science stream. Dont know about other streams, but for science students, they have researcher who takes the session I would say. College have a very good faculty and staff who are really helpful and supportive. In addition to it, labs for practical are well equipped and clean with latest technology equipment and well experienced assistants. Each pracitical class is very interactive and has a good learning.

Highest package of Hindu College is 36.5 LPA and the average package is 11.4 LPA. Hindu College has a high placement rate of 95% of eligible students securing a placement here. My plan is to prepare for UPSC or SSC-CGL after my degree.
