All about btech in SIMS , Lonavala

I gave IMUCET it's the govt exam for govt colleges regarding this field ( merchant Navy ) there is reservation so as being general category I didn't get admission there gave college exam of SIMS and then interview and got selected, it was a smooth experience nothing complicated. The cut-off I don't remember this exactly now as I have passed out, everything regarding the admission process is on their site and on Google as well so no issues.

It was a BTech degree I wanted to do and be in merchant Navy field so as per my wishes this course was apt faculty to student ratio is good to max 40 students in a batch, faculties are qualified and most of the same field hence better knowledge is provided, the college comes under imu hence timely exams and all happen very frequently, they are not easy to pass hence good preparation is required so study is imp, they are not that hard even that it's very tough to handle them but yes you need to be serious for them. Imu being the regulatory authority seems to have some disproportionate things some times for eg they give a heading to be taught not the depth and in exams might ask as they want, that's the tricky part to handle but the college helps as much as possible so no worries in the college part.

The internship is the 6 months training for which we get the salary as well and after that exam and Interview for a promotion that is the process. You might change the company after serving till some post for ESM. That's the bond while giving a stipend to us. They provide a decent salary there is no issue there.

Esm is the management company and the owner has opened the college so directly placement is done to the company on successful completion of the course, packages are same for everyone as they improve by posts and for same post same salary is there, for eg 700$ for the trainee that is 5th engineer onboard for each month no salary when not on board, 100% placement on successful completion.

The fee has recently been hiked to 18lakhs for 4 years, you need some financial support to apply for this course but once done you are settled the provide placement in ESM to all the students who pass the degree successfully.

There are rarely fests and all reason being again the regulatory GOVT body IMU, a lot of things are already on the plate so time issues are always there, usually rarely time is there for such extra activities. The campus is really nice with swimming pool and courses and teachings that are done regarding it classrooms are apt sized but boards are not good I faced problems in it, the board is nothing but white sheet having glass in front and markers are used it creates shadows due to lighting and searing position and has caused stress to my eyes sports-wise there are apt ground and facilities available that are to be issued by the pt teacher and you can then play.

Room is either double sharing or triple, for a triple, it might be a little cozy but that life is to be once lived, lots of memories are created and you learn to live, the meals provided are by the mess in a hostel and that tender is given to Prithvi, the manager is good then good food is served and if not complaints are to be made to get it changed, the menu is decided by students of the hostel living there and quality is as per the maker's capability ( very good as compared to usual hostels ).
