Remarks
The admission process at Fergusson college was a bit lengthy but easy to follow. There were teacher volunteers guiding students and their parents at every step. On the counseling day, all students were made to sit in a class. Names of students were called out as per the merit list. Once the students approached the counseling panel, they were asked the course they wanted. The documents in the original were verified by the panel. Once the documents were verified, the student's signature on the register was taken to complete the registration process. To complete the registration process, a demand draft from the bank was to be submitted as admission fees. Post this a handbook and course itinerary was provided which meant the admission process was complete.
Course Curriculum Overview
The courses at Fergusson College are very diverse and multi-disciplinary. The faculty is well educated, well-read, and highly experienced. Most of the faculty were Ph.D. or at least Masters in their respective fields. The assignments given were moderate to difficult but ensured the student's full effort. They were to be always submitted on time. The faculty knew each one of the students therefore the student: faculty ratio was good enough but could be better.
Placement Experience
There are few companies that come to recruit here. So the opportunities for on-campus recruitments are not that great. But the name of the college holds water in off-campus recruitments. The number of opportunities after Computer science is endless. But Data science is the most upcoming field of opportunity. The college also offers good higher education opportunities post which one can join professors in the same college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure a few years ago was within the range given they were receiving government funds. But now, however, since the college has become autonomous, the fees structure and changed. The fees are now on the higher side.
Campus Life
The campus life is the best thing at Fergusson college. The vast campus with cool shady trees gives a pleasant feel throughout the campus. It helps to relieve academic stress. If you are a theatre buff, Kimaya is the right place to go make contacts with students interested in acting. You can see group rehearsals there. The gymkhana is the quietest place for some peace. The large ground is always buzzing with sports activities.
