Remarks

I m pursuing Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Environmental Engineering from Delhi Technological University. Admission Criteria: a) 12th marks: 60% b) Jee Mains Rank: 49,000 ( General category, inside delhi), 17000( General Category, outside Delhi)

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Analyses of DTU Environmental:- 1. Excellent laboratory, newly installed instruments, and all in working condition, rare in DTU. 2. Good faculty members, HoD has some 130 research publications, two more teachers have commendable knowledge of the subject. So exactly 3 good faculty, mind it. 3. As per the above point, only some subjects will be handled by these 3 in your 6 semesters tenure, so be prepared for diligent self-study. 4. If you develop an interest in the field, you can work upon projects, which can lead to research publication. You can go abroad for an international conference with institutes funding (about 75 % of total cost). It is worthy it. 5. With less hard work you can get a good %, so equally good for MS/ MBA. 6. Even if you didn't develop interest you can always get placed in non-tech companies. As per the current scenario, most of the Environmental people go for the non-tech fields. 7. In DTU, you will get quality peers. 8. Also you will get enough time to prepare for MBA or further studies.

Internships Opportunities

5

Many companies turn up for internships in DTU. Depending on the branch you are from, there are companies for Computer Science, IT, ECE, EE, Mechanical and other departments. Last year we saw Qualcomm, Toshiba, Tata Steel, Mazares, Tata Power DDL, Delloitte amongst others coming for internships, and this number seems to be growing. They held a written exam similar to AMCAT exams used for placements. This usually involves English, Mental Ability, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical Ability, and Electrical Engineering. This reduced the pool of applicant from 100+ to 32. These 32 people were taken to the next round i.e. a Group Discussion. Topics like "Is innovation a priority in India?" were given on the spot and then 8 people were shortlisted for the Personal Interview. Make sure your aggregate is above 60%. 65% is required by most companies, while some might demand 70%.

Placement Experience

5

During the placement drive of 2019, out of 1495 students, a total of 1306 students were placed and 300+ companies provided 1400+ offers. In the placement drive of 2019, the highest CTC stood at INR 1.27 Crore and the average CTC stood at INR 11.17 LPA whereas the median CTC stood at INR 10 LPA. Some of the top recruiters include Amazon, Facebook, Uber, Google, and many more. During the summer internship placement drive the highest stipend stood at INR 1 Lakh whereas the average stipend stood at INR 36K. If you develop good communication and coding skills (algorithmic or development), while maintaining a bit better CGPA , you will easily get a good job (12-15 LPA). But in simple terms, if someone has decent percentage without any backlogs and an average skill set he/she will definitely get placed with a decent package. There are companies like Amazon who keep a 0% cutoff and then there are companies like Samsung who keep a 70% (aggregate) cut-off. So keep your focus on your skills mainly.

Fees and Financial Aid

Joint Admission Counseling (JAC) Delhi is responsible for admission only. Firstly, you'll have to fill a form online mentioning all the details regarding the family income, total expenses, scholarships(if availing any) along with many other details. Make sure you have your electricity bills ready for the past 6 months, as you will also have to submit certain documents along with your application. Since this semester is online I am not sure whether or not you'll be asked to submit the hard copy, but in case of offline, we were asked to do so along with a photocopy of all the required documents along with a canceled cheque.( Make sure the account number that you provide is your own, not of your parents). If your name is shortlisted there will be a short interview of you along with your parents taken by the committee members wherein they'll assess the legitimacy of your application. If recommended, you'll get the fee concession which will be transferred to your bank account.

Campus Life

5

Life is pretty fun. You get to be whatever you want to. From artists, musicians, singers, orators, dancers, writers, programmers, athletes you'll find everyone damn talent over here! Every now and then you'll see a fest coming your way. Entertainment doses will never be less. Engifest, One of the most awaited events in Delhi. In the university campus, there is a central library containing all the books required for student learning. There is also a facility in the library for e-journals and e-books. The library also helps in inter-library book loan and xerox facilities. Sports and games the students of Delhi DTU have excellent facilities for sports such as 450 metre track for running, hockey and football grounds, cricket ground, volleyball courts, basketball courts and tennis courts. There is one auditorium.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course curriculum at DTU is quite relevant and comprehensive. The reason I chose this course was the mix of strong fundamentals in the first year—like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Programming—followed by department-specific core and elective courses that allow some flexibility and specialization. The curriculum gives a solid foundation for both real-world applications and further studies, especially through hands-on projects and lab work. That said, some areas could be improved, like including more industry exposure, internships, and practical case studies to bridge theory and real-world problems. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-terms and end-terms) and include assignments and projects as part of evaluation. While most exams are manageable if you keep up with the coursework, a few subjects can be challenging, and preparation is key to avoid surprises.

Placement Experience:

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive, with practical modules and industry-focused content that influenced my choice. It effectively bridges academic knowledge with real-world applications. However, adding more case studies and interdisciplinary approaches could enhance learning. Exams are well-timed but could better assess critical thinking. Teaching methods would benefit from integrating more interactive and hands-on sessions.
