Entrance Preview

I did not have to take any entrance examination as there was no entrance exam needed to get admission in the college. It was based on final marks of 12th standard.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I got into Electronics honours course first. It had various scopes like we could do B.tech from Calcutta University after completion of b.sc or M.tech after completion of M.Sc but soon I lost interest in the subject as I realised that this subject wasn't for me as I lacked interest in the subject. So I left honours after one year and went with general course which consisted electronics, physics and Chemistry.

College Events

5

General freshers for the whole college for 2-3 days, department freshers for one day, fest for 3 days, picnic once a year, bengali new year programme for one day and various small events throughout the year. Nowadays the events are getting more frequent and education is being prioritised less because of the student unions as they are more interested in getting students' support than in education.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship was available for SC/St/OBC category students and for the students who had very poor financial conditions used to get free education for three years.

Exam Structure

Unit tests were there every 3-4 months. Pre test was there before every final(University) exam and there was final exam at the end of each year. [3 years course so 3 final exams]. It is to be noted that the exams weren't semester wise so the exams used to held after one year.

Admission

At first I had to fill up online form which was available in the college website. Then a list came out on the notified date on which I had my name so they called me in a date for counselling. That was the day I went to the college for the first time. They asked us to sit in a room.

Faculty

4

The faculty was really good. There was 3 full time and a few part time lecturers at that point of time and as it was a very new course, the lab equipments and everything was new.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
