DTU, Mechanical And Automotive
Reviewed on Jan 11, 2017

Remarks

Overall the college is the best time of any ones so for me also it was the best. I enjoyed to the fullest and I would also like to say these four years of life nobody will ever forget and keep these memories with them forever.

Entrance Preview

I took All India Engineering Entrance Examination in 2012 and scored 199 marks out of 360 and secured AIR 14230.I was having options of many NITs but the branch which I was getting was not good. Since I belong to delhi I took admission in DTU and finally got admitted in Mechanical And Automotive engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Since the branch is not mechanical its mechanical plus automotive,so we were having mix subjects of mechanical and automobiles but there is not much difference.Subjects like power plant engineering, refrigration are not tought to us but we do study in depth of automobiles. We have choice of our electives in final year.

Internships Opportunities

Yes,college do provide internship opportunities to 3rd year students and many companies visit dtu to hire intern.Few of them are The smart cube, qualcomm, tata. Few startup also visit to hire interns. The average stipend offered to students lies in range of 10k-30k.

Placement Experience

4.5

Our college has a total strength of 1570 in 2K16 batch and from them approx. 400 are not eligible or do not sit for students. From the remaining students almost 95% students gets placed. There are various companies that visit dtu every year some of them are:futures first, zs associates, smart cube, tata motors, exl services, evauleserve, tata power, google, goldman sachs, BCC, Mckinsey, vedanta resources, escorts agri machinery, daikin, boston consulting group, axtria and many more. Around 280 companies visited for 2016 batch. Average package of dtu revolves around 5-6 lakhs.

College Events

4

In February every year cultural and technical fest is celebrated for full one week and during those days no classes are held.People enjoy the fest to the fullest. There are various events organised in both the fest with cultural fest little better than the tech fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee of the the college is not high at all. It is very less compared to iits and any other college in delhi. Hostelers have to pay 15k more than day scholars. If we compare with other colleges like iits where fees is in lakhs but this is not the case with DTU.

Fees and Financial Aid

College do give scholarship to backward classes and economically weeker sections of our society. Also students admitting in the college can get loan very easily with the sbi branch present in college itself.

Campus Life

3

Since it is an engineering college the gender ratio is very imbalanced. It is around 9:1(9 boys and 1 girl). Campus life is pretty good.Workshops are organised very frequently almost once a week we do have workshops. Also sports fest is also held in college during march where inter college competitions are organised.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are not very good but yes a person can survive with it easily. There are tt rooms, badminton courts, cricket ground, football ground basketball court where people can enjoy. Food of mess is not good and students have to do a complaint once every month about it.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network of DTU is very strong. Our seniors are placed in top companies and are very helpful. If we ask them to help us get a job they will immediately forward your CV to hr and that too in top companies.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is good in college. Exams are held twice in every semester one is mid semester and the other one is end semester. Syllabus for mid semester is 1/4th of what it is for end semester. Labs are not good in the college with most of the equipment giving false readings.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty of our college is very interested to teach students especially in first and second year. From third year onwards, teachers do not take much interest and just provide notes for self study. But the faculty is very qualified and standards are up to the mark.

Here placement is average as many opt for higher studies the reason behind this is maybe because only a few companies visit. In which TCS is a mass recruiter. The average package here is 3-4 lakh per annum and the highest goes up to 6lakhs per annum. Here placement ratio is about 50%. I will also opt for higher studies after getting a degree

College management needs to work upon just the placement cell and needs to invent new methods to keep uninterested students glued and up for studies.
