Remarks

Culture of the college is good and the way I want to live in. Near to my hometown as well.I have approached my relatives who studied in IITs and they suggested to prefer college over branch. Everything is well planned in IIT Madras, didn't face any issues during admission process as well. Only negative thing is that there are lot of monkeys in the campus, snatching our food and entering our hostel rooms. Admission date was 23-07-2019, on this day we were given rooms, admission formalities and bought cycle. Next day, orientation session was conducted, verified and scanned our details and took pictures for ID cards.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I preferred college over branch and that's the reason I am in IIT Madras. There will not be much difference in the college whichever branch (few top) you are in. You will be given a chance to choose any set of courses you want outside your parent branch. Because of this, you will not feel much difference, ofcourse during placements few companies wont open to all branches, but if you explore you can find good career in every branch. They will divide students into batches of 60 for each prof in most of the classes.Faculty is highly qualified, many of them have done their post graduation in top foreign universities like stanford. Teaching method is also very good, again of course exceptions are always there. But most of them, teach very well and they have good patience to listen to your doubts. Few faculty members show so much interest on students and few of them leave whether you are listening to class or songs in classroom, anyways you are matured enough to know what to do at this age. We have 3 set of exams every semester. We have Quiz-1 and Quiz-2 and then end semester for most of the courses. Very few courses have just 2 exams- mid and end semester. And you will also have regular assignments for every course which may or may not be graded. It is easy to get a good course if you follow the class regularly. It doesn't need much external practice like JEE to pass the exam with good score.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Yes, you will get a lot of internship opportunities in the college from your second year itself. In your third year, internship selections are done similar to placements. We can get stipend based on company profiles from 10000 to 100000 (not so sure about the figures) as far as I know. Various roles are offered in both core and non core domains. There are also projects that you can work on.

Placement Experience

4.5

From their last second semester students will be allowed to sit for placements i.e. 7th sem for B.Tech and 9th sem for Dual students. Hundreds of companies register for placements and they take good number of students every year. Majority of the students gets placed if they have decent CG and perform well in the placement tests and interviews. I plan to go for higher studies after getting the degree.Company name, salary and offers is not possible to get the info and reveal it.

Campus Life

5

Cultural Fest - Saarang: Conducted every year in January for 5 daysTechnical Fest - Shaastra: Conducted every year in JanuaryWe have a very big library in college and you will find all the books there, even e-books are available and you can issue books yourself very easily by just scanning your ID card.In classroom, you will have a projector along with board and there will also be a charging point for each bench in every classroom. WIFI is available in every building. There are many clubs and every club is run my students only. There are lot of sport facilities throughout the campus. You can join in any sport you like and learn it and play whenever you want. There are small grounds within hostels as well. You can play at any time anywhere in the campus. Almost all the indoor and outdoor sports are there in the campus. There is a very big list of clubs you can join in. There are department wise clubs as well. You have clubs for each fest and each event that happens in the college. There are also learning clubs where you can learn and perform hands on projects in the field you like, but all these clubs go under some small selection process to take you into the club. Some of them include: programming club, social innovation club, 3D Printing club, electronics club, aero club, etc in innovation zone and finance, media, student relations, sponsorship clubs, etc in department fests and college fests. There is also a team for entrepreneurship called e-cell, there are many teams under that as well. There is also a saathi program for juniors, seniors who are part of that guides juniors throughout their insti life in their freshie year.

Exam Structure

JEE Advanced 2019 - rank 3312

Admission

There is only 1 entrance exam i.e. JEE Advanced. Preparation for that goes for 2-3 years of rigorous practice on MPC subjects. One should score good marks to qualify in JEE mains for JEE Adv and score should be really good in JEE adv to get a seat in top college and branch but at the same time, it is not that hard and it not impossible to crack it. If we are focused enough on preparation everyday and have good practice, we can crack it. I joined a coaching institute in Hyderabad for 2 years of my preparation. If someone thinks that they can perform better with 1 more year, they can take Long Term and prepare for 1 more year. There is no interview, admission is solely based on your JEE Adv rank.NOTE: Rating for admission process in given below, not the interview experience.
