Remarks
The admission procedure is JOSAA controlled with JEE mains as the qualifying exam. The dates for admission are based on the schedule published by JOSAA. I chose this college because of it's great coding culture and many people in my school network had a good experience. I also looked at reviews on quora.com and shiksha.com which looked very promising. Also, because a good rank is required to get the courses here so one can be sure about the peer quality here and there are no other branches than IT and ECE here, so there is a niche community here. Alumni from here have been hired in every major IT company and the placements have also been great so far. The only issue here is the location of the institute. It is located on the outskirts of Allahabad. So there are not many good places to have fun around the campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very good with a broad variety of courses to cover the entire breadth of things going on in Computer Science and IT. So the students get a good view of everything and can choose to go in depth on their own on whatever they find interesting. The faculty is very good. However, the courses have not been updated for quite sometime so the latest technologies are not discussed very well but the basic foundations of Computer Science are taught properly. The faculty is very experienced and all of them hold a PhD from very reputed institutes. There is continuous evaluation here which happens throughout the semester and the level of exams is moderate to difficult.
Internships Opportunities
I interned at Deutsche Telekom with a stipend of 30k. The project was a backend project based on microservices with java spring boot, mysql, mongoDb as tech stack and involved developing an A/B testing platform for the internal usage of the company.
Placement Experience
The BTech and Dual Degree students become eligible for campus placements at the beginning of 4th year and 5th year respectively. For on campus internship opportunities the same is 1 year less. The highest package is around 60 lakhs and on an average 10 lakhs a package of around 10 lakhs is offered. All top companies from tech giants like Google, Apple, Walmart, Oracle etc. to high paying startups such as Sumologic, Sprinklr etc.all come here. The placement are around 99-100 percent.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is a tad bit higher than other government institutes but students with family income less than 2.5 lakh per year can get a scholarship from the college. Also other scholarships from state governments and central governments are also considered here. For example UP government scholarship. Performance based scholarship is also available. Also the applicable stipend for GATE qualifiers is also provided in lieu of teaching assistant service by the students. But the placement offers are around on an average above 10 lakh per annum. Also companies come for intern selection too and they pay very good stipends. I personally got the GATE stipend, internship at Deutsche Telekom and a job in Deutsche Telekom. So the cost is worth it.
Campus Life
The college life is good. We have annual fest Effervescence around October where there are a plethora of cultural events, competitions and concerts. We also have annual Tech fest Aparoksha around March with lots of technological contests and cultural events and a Sports fest around Jan. The classroom have air conditioning with projectors and all necessary amenities. The library has a large collection of book and subscriptions to journals. There is a football ground, a squash court, a tennis court, a basketball court, a volleyball court and a swimming pool. There are no specific coaches for teams as other premier institutes like IIT's and NIT's barring swimming but overall it's a great place. The extracurricular society in the college are also very good. Literary, dramatics, music and dance societies are very good.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fees and mess fees is very affordable. The hostels are in good shape. The mess food is very affordable and of decent quality. However, there is not much option in terms of choosing a PG, if one chooses to stay at a PG he will still have to pay part fees. Mess and hostel committees are selected annually including students as well as faculty to ensure proper functioning and quality.
