Great Placements with compromiese infrastructure and location

I applied to all the IITs and top 10 NITs. NIT Allahabad is the best NIT of north India in terms of placements especially in CS/IT and due to location proximity, I didn't prefer South NITs. I applied to IITs also but my rank was not good enough.

Honestly, I choose Civil Engineering because that was the best branch in terms of cutoff ranks that I could get in NIT Allahabad. I preferred college over branch but my advice is to take CS/IT/ECE in lower NITs over Civil/Mechanical in top NITs or lower IITs for that matter. Most of the faculties were average and that happens in all the colleges but some were really good. Teaching pedagogy if I talk about my branch is very obsolete. It is not imparting skills to land a good private job in Civil Engineering field. This is true for even the top IITs. Term exams were timely and exams were difficult. You wil gain a lot of knowledge while studying for the exams.

All the big companies come here except google and Facebook. DE Shaw gave 1.5L per month which was the highest. It offered a PPO of 36L CTC. Internship were offered mostly to CS/IT/ECE people. Placements and internships of Chemical branch was also really good and that was unexpected because its cutoff is lesser than civil/mechanical.

Companies start coming from the 5th semester and offers PPO. Placement is 1 field where this colleges beats most of the colleges except top 3 NITs and top 10 IITs. But in Civil/Mechanical branches most of the good student do not sit for placements because or the irrelevant profiles being offered to them in terms of what they are taught in 4 years .

Fees per semester were around 70K. Scholarships were offered based on merit as well as JEE Main or Advanced Ranks. Also, UP scholarships and caste-based scholarships were offered to owe to government policies.

Annual Fest named CULRAV happens for 4-5 days in a year around April. It was good but what I have heard is other colleges beat NIT Allahabad here. Tech Fest named Avishkar also happens for 4-5 days in around September-October. Tech fest was good and comparable to other NITs except top 3. Library is huge and offers as many books and journals as you want to read. Mostly Classrooms have window ACs and there were some halls too which were really classy. Sports and Extra-curricular atmosphere is prevalent here. You have a lot of options to take part and groom and you should because that develops your personality. Different NGOs, photography clup, tech fest events were run by College Students.

The first-year Hostel is 7 floored hostel with a lift and 2 big Mess on the ground floor. The room had slept and studying sections separately. Mess food was really good. They did not offer Non-Veg. That was a downside but still mess food was really good. Hostels and Mess were really cheap. After the first year, the hostels lacked quality but now they have constructed two 14 Floored hostels and are probably the best building in the city.
