Remarks
I applied to St. Joseph's college because it was among the most reputed college in Bangalore offering the course I desired. The admission criteria required me to have secured a minimum of 60% in the 12th standard. For the admission process, I was first required to fill in an application form and submit all the required documents. After this, I was invited for a face-to-face personal interview with professors and the principal.
Course Curriculum Overview
I decided to opt for Bsc in zoology due to my fascination for the subject. SJC has some of the largest faculty departments in Bangalore. The student-to-teacher ratio is about 40:1 and each student gets adequate attention from teachers. All the professors have completed their PhD or at least a master's program. They use various methods such as lectures, group activities, presentations, to convey subject matters. Each semester had two examinations, i.e mid sems and end sems. The difficulty of the exams was about average.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees remained about the same throughout the course. Occassionaly small additional sums would be required for certain examinations or extracurricular / co-curricular activities. However, for my course, as far as I know, scholarships or financial assistance were limited.
Campus Life
The college ambience was lively, with frequent extracurricular activities being conducted by various clubs and departments. The annual fest, Nirvana was conducted each year on a huge scale. The library was spacious and consisted of all the necessary study material. Classrooms were facilitated with AV aids and has a sufficient number of tables and chairs. An indoor sports complex, as well as a playground, is available at the campus.
