Remarks

In 2018 the Economic Hons had an offline counselling session. At that time there were only 3-4 institutions provide this new course. The 2018 batch was the 2nd batch of Economic Hons in IPU. Wherein VIPS held the best position in offering the course. The total number of students that the college accepted for this course was 100 (divided into 2 sections of 50 each). I Applied for VIPS. It has been heard that Maharaja Agrasen has also started accepting applications for this course now.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Economic Hons is a great course in terms of learning, critical thinking, and if you are into stats, economics as well as maths. The scope for economics is widening every day. There are enough faculty members for every subject. Also, the teachers are well qualified and really good when it comes to offline teaching. However, in online mode, you might face difficulties as interaction is very less and ppts arent the best replacement for classrooms board teaching. But the teachers are always available for doubt sessions and will even be available after lectures to help you out with your studies. The Economics department of VIPS particularly focuses on Academics so they are very strict in case of attendance. So if your attendance falls short because of your co-curricular activities or social work or internship then the department is not very supportive in this case. As it's a new course therefore there will not be enough previous year question papers available and exams are unpredictable.

Placement Experience

2.5

There are placement cell for each department. Different departments have different placement opportunities. The placement in other departments are fair enough and the placement in Economics is less than the other departments and not specifically related to the course however the department does conduct workshops. Few companies are- BYJUs, Oracle, Trueblue, 6Research etc

Fees and Financial Aid

My fee structure is approximately 80k- 90k per year. However the same applies to online medium too (which I think is overpriced) this is excluding book bank facility or photocopy notes. Campus placement and internships opportunities are not as good as the other departments of VIPS (this might be because of the new course)

Campus Life

3.5

Each Department (for example Economics, Business, etc) held their own fest at different time of the year. The library is well equipped and the infrastructure of classrooms are good too. (With AC classrooms) As for the sports some of them were available at the college like table tennis and for a few rohini sports complex was used (where the charges were paid by the student themselves ) Other sports includes basketball, football, tug of war etc. There are clubs & societies at both departmental and central levels. Few central clubs are - NSS (Social service) ,Gender Champions, Dance , Dramatics, singing ,Enactus etc. The campus includes more of buildings and less of playing ground which in my opinion is well equipped for academics but less equipped for sports. You need to trade off between the society and your classes as no attendance is provided for the same

Placement Experience:

Placements of my college are pretty good. The placement cell of my college is pretty active and facilitataes the placement process. Companies like Deloitte, EY and PWC often come to our college for placements with the average package being Rs. 8,00,000. After getting this degree, i will pursure another degree in MBA or I might also take a part in the placement process and pursue an MBA later. Students in semester 6 and further can take part in the placement process but there are internship fairs and summer internship programmes for students who are not eligible for placements

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have a keen interest in pursuing in Economics field as a career and hence my degree perfectly aligns with my career goals The curriculum is not very effective when we talk aboht the real world exposure however it is very good for further academic pursuits The curriculum could be a bit more practical based where we get exposure to the real industry as well. The exams are held twice in an year. The difficulty level is moderate

Course Curriculum Overview:

the maths it includes under mme , i loved that curriculum, also the micro and macro economics and stats both as sibjects fascinate me alot which is why i chose this course. the curriculum does prepare us for real world applications because it includes stats and eco which are quite helpful. the one thing i think should be improves is that the stats course at times includes stuff which has been taught to us before in class 12th and is not relevant to be taught again.
