Remarks
The admission process is not at all hectic. The First Year Engineering process happens based on the Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP). It considers CET marks and three merit lists are announced which purely happen on a merit basis. If a student's name appears in a merit list, but he/she wishes to apply for some different college to test his chances there, the college provides an option to keep his/her seat on hold by paying a minimum of 1000/- Rs as admission fees. After the merit list is announced, RCOE provides a week to confirm admission by visiting the campus. Students seeking admission through institutional quota are required to pay a visit in person. I personally had applied for more than 25 colleges across Mumbai as I wasn't sure even though I had secured a good 84 percentile in CET. The reason I chose RCOE over other colleges was to ensure a good exposure, as my stream was completely new with me being the first batch student for AI&DS.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for my Bachelor's degree. Although the field is completely new and has been introduced this year, the teachers try their best to render us maximum education. Apart from the prescribed curriculum, we also have extra aptitude classes for soft skill development as well as logic building. Taking the lockdown period into consideration we are provided with recorded videos from our live classes along with extra notes. Exams include term tests and semester ones. Term tests happen twice a year and semesters twice too. Teaching staff make sure to complete the syllabus efficiently well before the exams are conducted. Doubt sessions on students requests are organized too. The non-teaching staff is quite helpful regarding any issues as well. I'd totally recommend this college as I haven't heard of a better learning experience anywhere else.
Internships Opportunities
Certified internships are provided to first and second year students which serve as a great asset for any student. Internships with stipends are provided to students who are in their third and fourth years. Projects are assigned with the motive to develop practical skills. Overall the college management makes sure to provide ample opportunities. It hence, in the end, depends on the students how good he/she can benefit out of it all.
Placement Experience
The placement department has played an amazing role over the years. The batch that graduated last year had more than 10 students with 12 LPA packages as well. Campus placements happen purely on the student's performance in four years. As far as the trends are concerned, any student with a higher than 8.5 cgpa in a final year does not have to worry about getting a placement. Companies like Wipro, Tata, Capegimini, Cognizzant, etc. stand among the top recruiters. Average packages can be estimated to be around 3-4 lakhs considering all the placements happening.
Fees and Financial Aid
A yearly fee of 1,02,144 Rs is applicable for a student from any field. However, on merit basis students can minimise their fees to only paying as low as 30,000 per year (For ex: TFWS ). After admission through the general category, I had applied for an EBC scholarship which saved me 47,000. Even though the scholarship was a govt. one, college staff was quite helpful with the applications, so much that they personally called if certain mistakes required correction.
Campus Life
The college is active in terms of co-curricular activities. There is a sports club which emphasises indoor as well as outdoor games. RCOE assures free internet, library and gymnasium facilities. Differently abled students are given free special skill development along with in-house internships. There are incubation centres, book bank facilities and research and development activities at the R&D and Design centre. Funds for research and patent application are provided as well. A student council is also present which gets elected every year. A special E-Sports event was organised for all the students during the lockdown period as well.
