Remarks

I landed a decent rank of 15515 in KCET in 2019. Applied for CMRIT being my first preference for the branch ISE, unfortunately, fell short of the cutoff in the first round by around 200 ranks and got the seat in the second round. The admission process was smooth, once you choose option 1 in KCET that you're taking up the college seat alloted, you'll have to produce a DD to the college with the KCET fees and College fees included, then the additional fees for lab coat, etc. will have to be paid after which you'll be asked to fill a digital application form in the computer lab. Post this, you'll have to submit your document and you're admission is confirmed.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose ISE specifically because I wanted all the hardware subjects from CSE swapped out to software subjects. Most of the course (CSE and ISE) are almost identical (90% same) except for a few subjects towards the final year and pre-final year.Talking about teachers, they're extremely qualified, more than 60% of the teachers here hold a PhD and their teaching process is leaps and bounds ahead. They stick to application-based teaching ensuring the student has a purpose or use of the concept they're being taught rather than learning it for the sake of exams. Each teacher has their own style of teaching, but they can always be altered through a feedback system (taken thrice each semester for each teacher of each subject) to help constantly improve the quality of education provided. Each class has 60-65 people and 1 teacher for each subject. For lab sessions, each class is split into 3 batches (each batch of 20-22 students) and 2 teachers per batch to ensure individual attention. 3 exams/sem

Placement Experience

After this degree, there is a portion of students going for their Master's Degree abroad/top IITs and NITs, some of them prefer to get placed and work an entry-level job in their domain and the rest pick up entrepreneurship. CMRIT has had many entrepreneurs in the past and is constantly fuelling them with their Incubation center where they provide funding and guidance to those who want to start-up. College has all kind of recruiters like Mass Recruiters (TCS,WIpro, etc.) and Product based companies like (DELL, VMWare, etc.) and close to 85%-90% graduate with a job offer in hand. Avg placement CTC rounds to around 6 LPA and highest so far has been 21 LPA. College gets around 100-150 companies visiting the campus annually.

Fees and Financial Aid

Getting a seat via KCET is the most economical way to finish your engineering. For a General Merit student like me, First-year fees in total landed around 94k, 2nd year around 89k, 3rd and 4th year even slightly lesser (total avg of around 3.5-3.7L if you're a day scholar). There hasn't been any major fee hike through my study so far at CMRIT (same as quoted in beginning of 1st year).Talking about EWS in KCET, they get to pay fees around 30k annually, COMEDK is fixed at 2.5L annually and Management goes based on your branch of choice.Scholarship can availed by students with quota annually. On campus Jobs at CMRIT are booming since 5 years and getting better annually. Current highest placement is around 21LPA to a Japnese Firmware and the placement scenario is steadily getting better over the years. If you're enrolling now, you can only expect it to get better by the time you get to pre-final/final year.College also provides extra sharpening towards placements with their separate course

Campus Life

The annual fest is called Cultura and happens in March. You can expect all the standard stuff you'd see at any college fest with the events to live concert to stalls, etc. College is packed with Clubs run by students. We have a ton of coding clubs, cultural clubs from dance, music, theatre, photography, Kannada Samsruti Sangha, etc., IEEE, NSS, communities like TEDxCMRIT, etc. College holds an annual sports fest and also activiely promotes participation in VTU Sports fest with all amenities in place. Library has all books related to engineering with ample number of copies to be issued to students. Alongside which they also have journals and other fiction,non-fiction, etc. books to spend some time off studying. Library is open till around 10 PM for hostellers and provide a constructive study environment like no other.

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
