Remarks
I Normally gave mains without specific preparation, somehow I got around 94 marks and 100 was the cutoff. then I applied for Uttarakhand state engineering college counseling and with a mains score, I got a good state rank. Applied for the state counseling, selected desired colleges on priority, and Got admission in TFW quota.
Course Curriculum Overview
I always had an interest in mechanics and electronics thus I was looking for these branches, but then I thought of taking the mechanical engineering branch as I felt that it was quite an evergreen branch and things are really practical in this branch of engineering. the faculties of our department were quite good, few professors were from IIT Roorkee also. they thought really well. there were sessionals and assignments to evaluate the learning. overall it was quite a good experience.
Internships Opportunities
There were many companies that provided internship opportunities but then in my branch, I don't remember any company that gave the internship opportunity. but in the computer science branch, there are various companies who provide students paid internships and there is some really good exposure.
Placement Experience
From the seventh year, we are allowed to sit in the placement round and before that, on the fifth and sixth semesters, we have to do the internships and submit the certificates with the faculty adviser. many companies such as Rockmann, Asai India glass, Extramarks, Jaro Education, Byjus, etc visited and many students get selected in them. the average package in the CORE branch was around 3.5LPA and in the Sales domain, it was around 12LPA. 90% of the students got placed at my time.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at my time was around 90000 per year on tuition fees and 75000 for a hostel. but it's pretty much changed now which I am not aware of. but yes the mechanical engineering branch for that fee is worth it that is for sure. because the infrastructure, labs, and faculty make everything really worth it. Fortunately, I got a scholarship from the state government so I never had to pay my tuition fees. but however, COER is a college which I can recommend.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is really good, after all, I lived there in the hostel which was there on the campus itself. so it was really good. we had 10+ societies for different purposes. there were interviews for first-year students to join the societies. Overall exposure was good and most important of all was that ragging inside the campus was not there at all.
