CAT (2011) - 93% I opted IMI due to its small batch size, great professors, geographic location and holistic approach to personality development.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum had extensive exposure to case based learning which promoted rich discussion in class wherein peers came up with diverse viewpoints to look at the problem at hand. In almost all the electives we were given assignments which involved some form of primary or secondary research.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, most companies provided decent stipend over Rs 50000. Internship period varied from 2-3 months.
College Events
Biggest festival was Kritva which included technical, cultural and management events. Every year students from all over India flocked in the institute to participate. It included events from different management fields like marketing, finance, operations, systems.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is on higher side. Tuition fee was 10 lacs for 2 year course excluding hostel and mess fee.
Campus Life
Campus life was interesting, vibrant and full of rich experience. Gender ratio was 60 boys to 40 girls. Extra curricular facilities were present like volleyball, basketball and badminton courts. Various clubs and committees were there to promote extra curricular activities like singing, dancing, drama, sports.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network needs improvement and some serious work is being carried out by management. One big challenge is alumni data which is not well documented.
Exam Structure
B-school life was very hectic with almost 15-17 hours of routine activities every day. Exams were quite frequent and included surprise quizzes, mid-terms and end-terms. For some subjects like MIS we had to stay in labs to finish assignments. Library was 2nd home.
Admission
I appeared for CAT in 2011 and filled application form. Got shortlisted for next round which was GD, PI and essay writing. CAT scores were just a shortlisting criteria along with academic performance in 10th, 12th and Graduation. Once you get shortlisted, your selection depends on your performance in GD, PI and essay writing.
Faculty
All the faculty members with PhD scholars and most of them had rich industry exposure. Each faculty member had its own pedagogy approach which eliminated monotony and promoted adaptability. The professors took deep interest in mentoring students for competitions, events and other extra curricular activities and due to good infrastructure they were approachable at all times.
