Remarks
I had to appear for the Madhya Pradesh Pre Engineering test (MP-PET) for teking admission into this college. There was a counselling at Bhopal for College and Branch Selection and then to confirm the admission booking seat by depositing the DD and verification of all the marksheets and certificates. The seats were allootted on the merit basis and on availability basis. The admission process was smooth. We had to report to the college with required documents and fees DD etc. for confirming the admission into the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was divided into eight semesters and 4 years total. First year (2 semesters) were common for all branch students hence studying common subjects. From the 3 rd semester onwards, the subjects were more of the specific branch oriented. From 3rd year onwards, it was completely related to your specific branch. I chose Metallurgical Engineering as that was the best I was getting at that time and my priority was to take admission in a government engineering college only. The Faculty was well experienced and highly qualified. Most of the professors wer Doctorate from IITs and a few M.Techs. from IITs. The teacher to student ration was about 6:1. The term exams used to be held after the end of each sememster and it used to be quite difficult to score well in the semester exams. Since most of the faculty teachers were also having industrial experiences, they could relate to the teachig couses with the practicals well.
Internships Opportunities
Several companies offer internship opportunities to the students of this college that include core and non-core tech companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Adobe, Hindalco, Vedanta, Barclays, Grasim etc among many others. The stipend ranges from somewhere 15,000 per month to 45,000 per month.
Placement Experience
The college provides good preplacement, internship and final placement opportunities to all its students. The activities start from the 3rd year onwards. Almost all the leading tech and non-tech core companies visit the campus for students placement. Almost all students from CSE & IT branch get placed with good companies of repute. Placements for electronics are quite a descent. For other core branches, the placements are still good compared to many other colleges. The highest salaries offered are about 22 lacs per annum and average salaries are around 9 lacs per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
There was no hike for the semester fees once you take the admission. The fees were quite reasonable and affordable. Though I did not get any scholarship in the college during my studies, the college used to offer scholarships to the merit students having a fixed percentage in class 12th exams. There used to be huge tuition fee waivers for SC-ST Category students.
Campus Life
The college has a vast central library with several books, journals and e-magazines. There are several youth festivals conferences and seminars around the year, musical concerts etc. The college has its yearly magazine known as Shipli. One of the very prominent students clubs is JESID. Classrooms are very big in size and air-conditioned. There are plenty of lecture halls with a magnificent auditorium. The college maintains its own website.
Hostel Facilities
There are various hostels separately for girls and boys. Each hostel has its own badminton court, table tennis and a mess. The mess has an LCD and wifi network connectivity. There is the weekly menu in the mess and the mess is run by students. We need to pay for the hostel and mess charges during the hostel allotment annually and it's quite affordable. Some of the students stay outside the hostels in rented rooms in the vicinity areas like Saraswati Nagar, Choubey colony etc.
