Remarks
I had got Pillai college in CAP 1st round but decided not to go there. I am from fr. Agnel school and wanted to continue my education in Agnels. I got through in the management quota and didn't wait for the next CAP rounds because I was certain I wanted to study here.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Electronics and Telecommunication branch to specialise in because I was interested in this field. My class had a strength of 85 which is quite high. Each subject was taught by different faculty and labs may be taken by the same faculty or different faculty altogether. Lab assistants are also available for better practical conduction. Most of the faculty are M.E. holders. There are quite a number of Ph.D holders too. The teaching methods differ from faculty to faculty but almost all of them incorporate modern tools in their teaching. Before the main exams, preliminary exams are held which helped us to face the actual exams in a better prepared manner.
Placement Experience
In the final year (sem 7), companies begin campus placements in the college. TCS is the main recruiter. Companies like LTI, Godrej, Jio etc also come here but the placement number is very low( 1-2 students only or maybe even none). Because of the pandemic, lesser companies than usual came for placements in the 2020-21 academic year. The average package offered is 3.3 lpa and the highest package offered I believe, was 8.5 lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
I don't remember the exact numbers but the range of the annual fees was around 135k+ which increased every year by a few thousand rupees. The minority classes get scholarships if they qualify for them. In the final year, companies like TCS, LTI etc come for campus placements.
Campus Life
There are two fests: 'FACES' is an intercollegiate festival held in Aug/Sept and 'ETAMAX' is an intercollegiate festival held in Jan/Feb FACES is basically a competition between the different branches in fields like sports, cultural events and other extracurricular activities. 'ETAMAX' has various technical and cultural events that can be attended by other college students too. It was mandatory to attend events in both fests. Other than these fests there are at least 2 department level fests held in a year in every department. There are clubs that you can be a part of the like Drama Club, Robotics club etc. Sports clubs are not much given preference to: if you want to pursue a sport, no special provisions will be given to you. You'll have to train and participate in events on your own. But there are amenities like the astroturf, basketball court, badminton court etc which can be used only after getting permission. The central library has all textbooks and reference books required.
