Remarks
The college Head is Mr Dee Cee Ravi, he is also the owner of DC Books. The only problem that I have found is that he is not approachable. Other than that I have got to learn a lot. Every wednesday we had a session with the mentors. That is every 5 students are allotted to a particular mentor (A teaching faculty or a senior management member) we all get to sit together and talk or hearts out about the college and any difficulties that we face. Initially it used to be boring but one we started spending time together, we knew our Mentor is like our God father and he/she will do everything possible to help us out from our troubles. (that includes everything from boyfriend issues, not liking a teacher, not raining enough, feeling bored, what will china do next, family issues, anything) in our college no one could be alone. There were so many groups and clubs and so many things happening one can not escape from not participating. If you are caught from not being a part of anything then you would be the one heading the next one.
Entrance Preview
I only appeared for MAT and I scored 92 percentile. I did not appear for any other interview at any other college. The interview process was very simple and luckily with my score it was easy to crack it.
Course Curriculum Overview
My college (DC) Comes under Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala. So one can not expect to have any thing beyond what is is the curriculum provided by them. But other than that my college made sure to give a corporate treatment so the students are ready to deal with the real world outside. And as my college was on a hill station, we felt like there was no one else on the planet and had to get our things done ourselves. which has improved our DIY skills to a large extend. But to be particular, college offers Marketing, International Business, Finance, HR, Logisitics there is also a facility of dual electives so one can take up two electives.
Internships Opportunities
It is very mandatory in my college that the student should get the internship done outside the state of Kerala as it offers a the students a different atmosphere and better learning opportunities. Two internship programs are to be completed. My second Internship was with TOTAL Oil Company and I received a Stipend of Twelve Thousand.
Placement Experience
We had many Companies for the year I had to participate for the placement process. Idea, Airtel, Vodaphone, SBI, Hedge, Manorama, Mathrubhumi, EduCare to name a few. The package differed based on the Students capability. It ranged from Ten thousand to Forty thousand per month.
College Events
As I joined the first occasion was freshers day, Followed by Onam celebration, next was teachers day, We had College Day, Christmas Celebration, the most awaited Luminance (It is the management fest that is conducted by students solely, including the financing part, the college only offers the college space and a week leave to arrange for all. about 92 colleges participated during the year my batch conducted Luminance) My college as around 5 clubs, all into different aspect as sports, cultural events, Radio Jockeying, Business Quiz, NGO Oriented - all these clubs have a specific day that they celebrate and the whole college has to participate.so except for the cultural events we have the club related programs that keep coming up.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure if you compare is a bit expensive, It is around 6,00,000 for two years. But this includes the College fees, the hostel fees, the uniform, the books, the mess fee. As the college is a residential college, the amount is understandable. The deposit of 10,000 is returned if you do not destroy any of the college property.
Fees and Financial Aid
Education loan was taken my many of my classmates but I am not sure of the process as my parents did the honor of paying them for me. But Scholarships I have not heard of any.
Campus Life
Since my college is in Kerala, there is never a chance of one finding lesser girls. It is always in equal ratio. But we had students from Delhi, Punjab, manipal, Mumbai, Andhra, and from all most all districts of Kerala. The cultural aspect was always taken care of. Vegetarian students had their food separately made. Also students from north India had the option to have north Indian food as a north Indian would find it difficult to have the thick rice that keralites have. We had my extra courses running along with the mainstream ones. Like the SAP, IBM special course, Photoshop etc. F or all these we had separate computer Lab. We also have a huge Library, and it has any management book that you would name. My college believe is keeping the nature safe, so one will find steps build around the trees with out hurting them in any way. There is not politics in my college though Kerala is famous of the campus politics and student unions. The fees being quite expensive one will find only 2 kind of students, either they have parents who can afford the fees, or students who are determined and have take a loan for 6,00,000. There is diversity in religion but most students are Catholics, but that does not mean that muslims and Hindus are less in number, it is just the catholics are more. I have not found any case of homosexuals in my college and I dont think the col;ege would be fine with it if they find one. And the best part, you can select your room partners.
Hostel Facilities
One has to stay in the college hostel. You can not opt to stay any where else. The hostel facilities are great. There are no fans in the hostel rooms as one would not need it at all. It is really cold up there. Since one does not have a choice one tends to be happy with whatever available. But the facilities are great. The Mess food is great. As any college canteen, one incident here and there would be spot but over all it is great. You get a good variety of non-veg. Since it is cold there, You have the privilege to have non veg every other day.
Exam Structure
Under Mahatma Gandhi University for MBA it is CBCSS structure. So there are 4 semesters. But the students are informed well before the exams and there are enough days between each exam for a student to feel hectic. The syllabus is also very well defined. And if you are regular at attending classes in DC there are no chances that you can fail in any of the papers.
Admission
There is a facility to enter the college names that you are interested in, in the MAT form that you fill. The MAT forms were to be collected from banks. Soon after the results were declared by MAT, I got call from all 5 colleges that I had given the names for. DC School had its interview first. They provide all the details in the call that you get for the interview. On the date of interview, you have to go through the group discussion round first. Group discussion is basically on any topic that is very recent or anything related to management. If you are selected, you will be called for the personal interview. The interviewing panel may consist of 2-3 people. They will check you Vocabulary, you GK, your interest. For me they asked me about all programs that were conducted, since DC has a tradition of the college fest being conducted solely by the students.
Faculty
All the faculty in my college were well qualified. Either well experienced in their particular industry or a Ph.D holder. It is a residential college, so the faculty treats you like a family and always there to lend a helping hand in any case at any time. The teachers make it a point to give extra classes to the weak students and those classes are compulsory. The notes are also updated on the college intranet website, so if in case you were not in class you don not have to beg for any fellow students mercy, you have it right on your finger tips.
