Remarks
I got into FCRIT Vashi through the Maharashtra CET examination. The admission process was very smooth. The first time, I stepped into the college was for submission of the required documents for admission, such as previous mark sheets, certificates and entrance exam scorecard.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to have a good knowledge base of both Hardware and Software and Electronics and Telecommunications is the best course for achieving this goal. Also, my elder cousin sister was in the same course at FCRIT Vashi and I had heard from her about the exceptional quality of faculty at this institute. Speaking about the faculty: student ratio, it's properly maintained with around 50-60 students in a class and 15-20 faculty members in every department. Every faculty member is highly qualified with a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in engineering and has a vast and diverse knowledge base in the fields and subjects that they teach. The teaching methodology has been designed to be made interactive and innovative by using not just reference books and faculty's notes as study material, but also inculcating the techniques such as video-based learning, quizzes, group learning sessions and regular weekly laboratory sessions for every subject.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester and many IT-based as well as core companies visit the campus and recruit a large number of students. Some of the IT companies are TCS, LTI, NSE IT and some of the core companies for EXTC are Selec Control, HCL, ZS. I was placed in TCS through on-campus placements in my 7th semester in September 2019 and after completing my BE in 2020 last year, I have been working with TCS as an Assistant System Engineer Trainee with a profile of an SAP functional consultant.
Fees and Financial Aid
In every semester for each subject, we had two assignment tests, two unit tests, project work (theoretical and laboratory), a prelim exam and the final end-semester exam. During my four years of study, there was not any hike in tuition fees. I had appeared for the campus placements and received a job offer at TCS with a salary of 3.5 lac per annum.
Campus Life
The institute has 2 college fests, one in the even semester and the other in the odd semester. In the odd semester in August, there is a cultural fest called FACES and in the even semester in February, there is a techno-cultural fest named ETAMAX which is the highlight of the student community. The spacious and quiet library has a large variety of books on every subject taught in the college. The books are readily available and the library provides a good environment to do focussed study and research from reference books. The classrooms are well-lit with good quality furniture of desks and tables, ceiling fans, tube lights and windows. They are also equipped with a computer system for digital learning in the classroom. The Institute is a part of Agnel Charities and they gave their own football field, basketball court and a sports club supporting activities such as swimming, table tennis, etc. Every department has its own cultural and technical clubs. I was in a dept. socio-environmental community.
