This college grows on you. Situated on a hillock slightly away from the city - it is peaceful, serene but at the same time, bustling with energy all the time. Of course - Planet-I never sleeps.
Entrance Preview
I took Common Admission Test (CAT) to enter IIM Indore. I took this due to lack of other meaningful options. GRE GMAT are too expensive which leaves only CAT, XAT and other such MBA entrance exams. IIMs are more prestigious and rewarding.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is good with a significant focus on idea generation. We have a concept of CIS projects wherein students can opt to work on a project of their choice and they will be mentored and reviewed by the professors. This course will add to the requisite number of credits for the course.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, it does have campus placements. The average stipend was Rs. 91,000 (as mentioned in the summer internship report 2015-16). The overall experience was good. The process was well organised with many companies visiting. A batch strength of 560 proved to be a challenge as well as an opportunity.
Placement Experience
Placement and job opportunities are at par with other B-Schools in India. The process was well organised with many companies visiting. A batch strength of over 600 (Indore and Mumbai campus combined) proved to be a challenge as well as an opportunity. The average package was Rs. 15.67 lakhs (as mentioned in placement report 2016).
College Events
We have a plethora of events on campus. Around August, we have i5 summit wherein we celebrate entrepreneurship on campus and hear and learn from the industry stalwarts. The comes Udaan which is a marathon event. Then comes Utsaha which is a rurual marketing fest. Then comes Iris which is the managerial and cultural fest of IIM Indore. These are over and above the regular events and talks organised by the clubs on campus.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is expensive but availability of education loans and good placements make it easy to bear the expense. The fee is around Rs. 15,00,000 for 2 years (6 terms). The expenses for Himalayan Outbound Program is over and above the course fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loans are offered by the banks at low EMIs. There is no scholarship program of the college. Meritorious students get into the director's list.
Campus Life
Campus is diverse both in terms of gender and ethnicity. We celebrate the local festivals of every part of India. The Cultural Committee is responsible for making people from different ethnic and religious backgrounds feel at home during festival times.
Hostel Facilities
One room per student is allotted in the hostels on campus to every student. The amount is included in the course fees. Mess food is decent. Mess fees is included in the fees paid in the first year and is made optional in the second year. Authorities confer to the quality standards.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is decent. The college is relatively new. Hence, alumni network is growing rapidly. Current and prospective students get a chance to interact with them at events organised by the Student Activity Council of IIM Indore (like Rendezvous and Footprints).
Exam Structure
Exams are frequent owing to trimester system. Continuous evaluation (Mid-terms, end-terms, quizzes, projects) keeps students on their toes. Students tend to participate in competitions which are over and above the regular classes. It gives a sense of achievement at the end of the day.
Admission
Admission process starts with filling forms for CAT and applying for several IIMs and affiliated institutes. Subsequently you give the exam and wait for the results. After the results are out (percentiles), every college you applied for via CAT of which you crossed the threshold criteria (composite score is calculated base on your 10th 12th marks and other things). You are called for as interview and GD/WAT session afterwhich your composite score is calculated again and you are given admission.
Faculty
Faculty is excellent. The level of class interaction and concept communication is definitely above what we used to have in graduate college. The feedback mechanism helps wherein any constructive feedback in incorporated in the course design swiftly. The variety of subjects offered is also good with there being something for everyone.
