Remarks

After my HSC results, I decided to apply online for this college as I am interested in finance markets & I am eligible to get admission in the criteria of last year's cutoff of about 65-70 % for the open category in HSC. I got selected in the First merit list & my name was on the top of the list. So, then we have to go to the college within 3 days for the offline admission process with the full or part payment fee. I didn't get any quota or reservation but the valid criteria students do get. For this course, there are no age criteria but you should have a valid reason for the Gap in your education. The staff there do guide us about every process for admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

To be honest, I choosed this course as I am a little bit interested in Finance Markets and the second one is that a lot of people don't know about the value of the course which has a good future. I preferred to do this specialized in finance course to avoid the rush to get admission in another course. The boys vs girls ratio here are 1:1 & sometimes 3:2 respectively. The teachers & staffs are highly educated here, many of them have multiple degrees as well as PhDs. The College conducts 6 semesters in 3 years that's 100 marks for each which include 75 marks of the external theory exam and 25 marks of the internal or practical exam. It gets easy to pass if we attend regularly.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

The college does not provide any official internships. But the teachers help in providing some. In the first year of college, I didn't have any idea of the internships but after that year there started the Covid-19 pandemic. So I haven't got any chance to do internships.

Placement Experience

4

After the 5th semester, the students become eligible for the campus placement. The companies like Cyntel, Here solution & banks like ICICI, HDFC, TJSB, & many more visit to the college. The companies provide average packages not that high but are sufficient to start a carrier as a fresher without any job experience. More than 50% of students get placements from campus if they apply for that. I plan to do a decent job for a couple of years & try to go for higher studies for the evermore better job according to my skills & experience.

Fees and Financial Aid

The overall fees per year are approximate 19000 in 2019 which includes tution, exams, library, canteen, seminar & many more fees, you can pay fully or as part payment. But every year there is a hike in price due to inflation, it's currently around 22000 in 2021. There is freeships & scholarships for the reserved category students & also for the open caste students if he/she is eligible in the lower-income group, the details are provided by the staff later. They also provide campus selection as different companies come to the college campus to allow getting a job before the final exam.

Campus Life

5

There are many fests conducted on the campus, some by the college and some by the students. Fests like CRISTLIS & MONEY symphony are conducted by students & teachers. The fests like NAVRANG & GANDHARVA is conducted by the college and volunteered by the students team, which is held between September to march with about a month gap in between. There are many sports & extra curriculum activities held in college where the students of the college and inter-college take part. There are many groups & research websites held by students. In fact, the students started monthly news magazines about the college. You may see that in the prospectus from the official website of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The B.com is not a very comprehensive and complex degree to complete for someone who wants to pursue his/her career in finance. It can be referred as an initial start or push start for one's finance journey over the years. Also the relevance of B.com in real world is gradually decreasing day by day.

From semester 5, you become eligible for final placement and semester 3 for internship placement. many companies like Nykaa, Myntra, Duetsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, Zomato, Beerbiceps and more have visited. the highest package in history is 38 lakh per annum. The average is 8-9 lakh per annum. Around 70% of students get the college placement. My plan is to start my own business after college. I am although doing internships through college. Already done one in Beerbiceps and one in chorus call.

Placements in my college are decent but not very high. students usually become eligible from the final year and few companies visit for roles like accounting assistant, sales, customer service. The average package is usually around Rs.2LPA-Rs.3LPA.

Due to NEP the course has been more developed to the students and teachers also explain the topocs to us very clearly and the thing should be change that the timing of the paper are at morning time which is at 7:30am it should be 10 or 10:30 because this time the students get late to the paper and didnt get time to prep.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One of the key aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the B.Com course at Sydenham College was its strong foundation in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Finance. The structured progression from basic to advanced concepts, along with exposure to subjects like taxation and auditing, made the program particularly appealing for students aiming for careers in finance, CA, CS, or management.

Remarks:

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
