AIEEE, Rank 778. This college was in the top 15 colleges of India. I had also consulted my relative who is a lecturer in NIT Surathkal and he had given positive reviews about this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum included everything necessary and important. I am presently working in the PEB industry as a project manager and I find the course curriculum were very relevant, except perhaps a few units which we had to go though in the first year as common subjects for all courses (Basic Electricals, Programming Languages etc.)
Internships Opportunities
The college doesn't provide internship. We had however applied of our own accord and had attended the same. The stipend would vary between Nil to 20 k per month.
Placement Experience
The job opportunities were pretty good. A few of the top 10 construction companies in the country had visited the college. Companies from very diverse fields and applications had visited (Steel, Construction, Consultants, Design Firms etc). Everyone in our class had been placed.
College Events
We had a variety of events organised in our college (technical, cultural, online gaming, sports etc.) We had competitions within the college and with other colleges as well. I was involved in organising the online gaming events and had successfully done so about three times in four years.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was very feasible considering we were allotted single occupancy rooms. The tuition fee + hostel fee amounted to Rs. 30,000 per semester and the food bills would amount to about 10,000 per semester. That makes it a total of about 40,000 per semester and 80,000 per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offer scholarship to students whose parents income was below the poverty line. This facility was availed by the a few students. The college was not giving out any loans, as much as I am aware.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network of this college is very active and have regular meets in Bangalore. The alumni includes people from the first batch as well, who are now serving as presidents, directors etc. in the top companies of the country.
Exam Structure
The exam structure was very convenient. We had one mid terms and one end terms for each semester, which make 4 exams for each subject (theory & lab) in a year. Marks were also awarded for attendance and project reports. 5 - Attendance, 10 - Project Report, 25 - Mid Terms, 60 - End Terms.
Admission
The counselling session was in NIT Surathkal for me, as my base was in Bangalore. After securing the seat in this college, I visited the college to pay the admission fees and tuition and hostel fees for the first semester. It was a seamless process and it took about half a day to get in and out of the college.
Faculty
The faculty of the college was top notch with respect to the knowledge in the subject. Since I was not very proficient in Hindi during the initial days, communication was a hindrance, but only marginal. The lecturers were all pretty unbiased, focused and patient.
