Entrance Preview

JEE, West Bengal in 2001. This College had a good reputation within all the private colleges in West Bengal and it was in my Home town.

Course Curriculum Overview

The Course structure was got but in B. Tech. the focus was not much on research work but mostly on understanding the subject. My electives were Robotics, Mechatronics, Production Management, Supply Chain Management. These subjects had there case studies and didn't had the conventional approach in the question papers.

Internships Opportunities

We are given 1 month vocational training in Industries in 3rd & 4th year but no internship training was provided.

Placement Experience

In 2005 , placement was ok to start with at least 60% student got job in campus interviews. But the placement now a days has reduced. College need to really think about there placement cell working hard for getting students a job after they pass out.

College Events

Freshers day, Republic Day, Revera was the fest - Main College get together, Independence day, Ravindra Jayanti- Cultural programs were conducted by teachers & students , Sports day- sports activities, Convocation- Final day when we left the college with results in hand.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure as expensive and getting more expensive. This is one part which I think, government should intervene to support specially the needy people. Per semester fee was 32000 INR including Hostel charges. So for Engineering it cost around 2-2.5 lakh in 2001-2005 period.

Exam Structure

Exam structure was too detailed which used to push us to really go into the details of every subject, resulting in really making us to understand the subjects. The practical exams also used to compliment the subjects. Some subject assignments were so tough that we used get trained for the exams itself.

Admission

I collected the form from the College applied in the College. Initially I applied for Mechanical Engineering, but Dr. Deb, our College Director influenced me and my father to take on Production Engineering. Then I got selected based on the 12th Exam results.

Faculty

Some of the faculties were really good. They really used to support us in understanding the subject. But now I think there is a scarcity of professors and teachers who can really take the pain to teach the students and guide them. But in our final year we really missed some of the very important faculties and there teaching.

Placement Experience:

At JGEC,campus placements begin mostly from the 6th/final year semester,when students become eligible .I recent years many well-known companies have visited such as Pinnacle Infotech,Synnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt.Ltd,,TCS,Jyesta corporate Entity and many more.The highest package was around 54 LPA form Google ,While the overall average is 10.2LPA.Many students also take internships, industrial training or prepare for higher studies(GATE) rather than accepting direct placement immediately.The exact percentage of student getting palcement is no where.But last year the percentage placed is 70%.

Placement Experience:

From 8th semester the students get eligible for campus placements . Some good companies like TCS Capgemini Infosys visited campus . Amazon also visited our campus the highest package is about 22 lakhs and average packages 5.5 lakh . about 80% student of CSE , IT and ECE branches get placed.

Okay college and decent placement

I choose this college due to affordable fees and the hostel facility near. But I think my desicion was wrong as it is not good engineering college as compared to the other colleges from noida ,ghaziabad and rest cities of India .This is because of followiong parameters that are good in those colleges.1.NO Regular cultural and technical fest. 2.Not any extra co cirricular activities such as dandiya, festive special programs and the main freshers part. 3. There is no farewell given to final year students by the college. 4. No convacation held. 3. No hightech infrastructure and AC classrooms.
