Remarks
The colleges I applied for are GLIM, XIMB, GIM, SIMSREE. But I selected K J Somaiya because of its location and placements. The admission criteria were 83%ile in CAT, 72%ile in XAT, and 98%ile in CMAT. After getting shortlisted, the process was GD and then PI. There was a structured GD with almost 10-12 students in each group. The PI was based on your CV and inclination towards your technology or field. The PI round had 2 panelists and each interview was for about 15-20 minutes on average.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose MBA as my Primary Course as it gives a variety of options to choose from. The course curriculum was according to the standards as the syllabus covered all the topics ranging from courses in HR, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to General Courses.
Internships Opportunities
The companies like JP Morgan, Barclays, HSBC, Citi, Deloitte, HP, Nestle, etc visit the campus every year. They generally come with Marketing, Finance, or Consulting roles. The highest stipend offered was around 80000 per month.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements after they complete their summer internships. Usually, all students get placed but due to the pandemic, there were almost 5% of students remained unplaced. Companies in the BFSI sector, Consulting, and Technology usually come in large numbers.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is 14.93 lacs for 2 years of the course. Financial Assistance is given to the students who are in need of it. I got placed at a banking firm during my summer internship with a stipend of 40,000 per month.
Campus Life
The annual fest in Melange where different events like Case study competitions, Quizzes, Dance Programmes, and Music Fest are conducted. There are also sports events on the campus where students from different streams participate in the events. There are many committees run by students and it is a platform to learn and grow your interpersonal and leadership skills.
Hostel Facilities
I haven't been to the hostel due to the pandemic. The registration for the hostel is through the SIMSR portal. One-year hostel fees are around 1,37,000 with mess fees around 5,000 rupees per month. The meal quality is decent.
Interview Experience
The Group Discussion was on whether e-commerce discounts posed a threat to offline retailers. The interview questions were aligned with my job experience and CV. Some of the questions on current affairs were also asked to me in this round. It was a 20 minutes interview.
