BIT Mesra - Fun, Activities, Fests & Placement

You enrolled through JOSAA where I was allotted BIT Mesra according to my JEE rank. Then the usual procedure of visiting any nearby NITs for document verification. Then the 7 rounds of JOSAA where there is a probability of getting a better college. I got BIT Mesra in the last round. Then after the 7 rounds of JOSAA was completed, I visited BIT Mesra for admission. Document verification happened again and some formalities then I paid the fees and at last I was alloted the hostel.

I chose computer science engineering because BIT Mesra is famous for this particular course. IT is also equivalent. The student ratio was 85% boys and 15% girls. All the faculty members were extremely qualified and the teaching method was good. Exams were held every semester for 100 marks in which there was mid sem of 25 marks, quiz for 15 marks, and end sem for 60 marks.

Around 100 companies come to hire students for internships and full-time. Students can apply for internships as soon as they reach 3rd year. They have to apply through the online portal of BIT placement. There are usually 3 rounds- Aptitude test and coding round, Technical interviews, HR Interview. Students who have done projects in various fields definitely have an advantage.

Campus placements are very good for circuital branches CSE, IT, ECE, EEE but not so good for non- circuital. From CSE and IT around, 90-95% of students get placed and for ECE and EEE around 70-80 %. For non-circuital it's around 40-50%.

The fee was almost double of any NIT, 136000 per year including hostel. The scholarship was provided to deserving students on the basis of their performance. For someone coming from a poor background, a fee may be too much. I only recommend those students to take admission only if they are getting CSE, IT, ECE, or EEE branches.

Club life is awesome. There are a lot of clubs to choose from. There are creative clubs like dance, singing, drama, news, and publications, photography, etc and there are technical clubs like Robotics, Racing, Coding, etc. All the clubs are run by students with a faculty advisor.

Hostel facilities are very good. For boys, they get single rooms after the first year but girls have to share their room all the years as there is only two girls hostel whereas there are 11 boys hostels.
