Remarks
Good aspects: 1) Good placement records in certain branches.2) Gate and ESE coachings are situated very close to the college so it saves a lot of time during preparation for GATE and ESE.3) Some good senior faculty that can help you during your preparations.4) A new sports complex is under construction right now and its model looks excellent.5) Some good ventures outside the college.6) Very little amount of restrictions to the mobility of students.( Once you are in 2nd year)7) Good LAN Speed.Bad aspects: 1) Lab equipments are not well maintained.2) The classroom are quite old except new building, so they require a bit of renovation.3) I personally felt that the mess food was pathetic, though some of my friends liked it.4) Restrictions in mobility of 1st year students.5) Wi-Fi problem in 1st and 2nd year hostels.6) The college canteen is not as good as it should have to be as they ran out of items most of the time.To get admission in IET, Lucknow one has to crack UPSEE exam and have to secure a good rank as IET is being the top rated college of UPSEE. One must try to get rank under 5k to have a chance of getting admission in IET, Lucknow.Besides academics, one must not underestimate the place where college is located. Lucknow is a very good city to live in in terms of amenities and luxuries. There are some good food ventures such as Tunday Kawabi, some historical places to visit such as Imam bara, Residency and an international cricket stadium too.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was always keen to become a chemical engineer and getting admission in one of the best engineering colleges in UP is quite a good deal. The faculty here is average. Talking about faculty to student ration, it will be around 1:30.Most of the faculty members have been post graduated from IIT's with some having PhD too. There is nothing special in teaching method, they keep it simple and safe. They try their best with the limited amount of resources available. The exams were conducted in a very disciplined manner and the difficulty level was moderate. One has to study and have to work on their basics to pass those examination. Elements of mechanical engineering, a subject in 1st year which is a nightmare for many students as many students fails in it.
Placement Experience
As I told, there are ample of opportunities for certain branches but for others they usually go for higher studies. From 7th semester, they become eligible for campus placements and no of companies visited such as Global logic, TCS,Hummingwave, TAL, Jaro, Hero motocorp etc. Average package is around 3-4 lpa and percentage of students getting placed varied from branch to branch but overall it would be around 40-50%. I am pursuing my post graduation in Chemical Engineering and will go for PhD after that.
Fee Structure And Facilities
During my stay in the college, there was no significant hike in the fees. It was around 51k in the first year and 54k in the final year but now I have heard that the fee is increased by around 20-30k. During my undergraduation, I opted for the UP government scholarship which basically reimbursement of my college fee and hostel fell. I used to get 64.4k as my scholarship amount which is very much sustainable for me. Talking about campus placement, it largely depends on your branch. If we talk about students from CS/IT, around 95% of the batch got placed, but other branches such as civil, chemical, not much opportunities for them. For EC, EE and ME, there are moderate job opportunities.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite good. The name of our annual cultural fest is Encore which is probably arrannged around November. There is sports fest Shauryotsava which takes place around February and March. No of events are organised in Shauryotsava such as football, javelin throw, cricket, relays, basketball, handball, badminton, chess, carrom and many more. There were many specific social groups such as IET Josh for dramas, Parmarth for social activities, Electrical Engineering Society, Excelsior is our literary club, Kriti is out art club and many others.
