Remarks

I had heard a lot, mostly positive, about this b-school from my seniors & friends. Along with the brand value & good placements, the institute has a rich alumni base. Also being located in the financial capital of India opens up a lot of opportunities as compared to other 2 tier B-Schools.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am specializing in Integrated Marketing Communications & I must our curriculum has been meticulously designed which enhances intellectual creativity. We have subjects like Creative writing, storytelling etc which is a lot of fun to learn. The classroom activities & group assignments are fun to do (although it would have been even more fun if it were offline). All our faculty has rich industry, corporate & academic experience and it is a delight to listen to their experiences.

Internships Opportunities

4

Although most of 95% to 98% of the students get the internship opportunity through campus (apart from the ones who opt-out), only 60% to 70% of the students get a paid internship opportunity. The highest in our batch was 75,000/- per month by Accenture.

Placement Experience

4.5

The institute offers 100% placement assistance to all the students across the specializations. The sector which gives maximum offers is BFSI followed by IT & consulting. The average package offered is usually around 10.75 LPA, but due to the pandemic, it has dropped down a bit. The average package of top 100-120 students goes around 12-13 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for our batch is around 15L for 2 years (excluding hostel & mess charges). This is the only con in my opinion considering the average package offered in the placements. Usually one needs to pay the fees of the entire one year in one go, but our batch was asked to pay the amount in 4 instalments. You can avail the loan for the same from Canara Bank & Bank of Baroda who charge a nominal rate of interest.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus life is supposed to be vibrant with n number of events happening around the calendar, but due to the pandemic, everything is happening online on Zoom. There are around 30 committees in K J SIM, all student-driven ranging from placement to sports committee. The annual fest is called Melange in which a lot of intra & inter-college events happens along with a star night where a celebrity (standup comedian/band/DJ) performs.

Interview Experience

4.5

After I was shortlisted based on my CAT score, I was called for a GD & PI. GD was more like a case discussion, where you have given a short case & a problem statement in the end. You are allotted 5 mins to read the case, 2 mins to make a note of your points & opinions and 12 to 15 mins to discuss with the group. Usually, the topics are from the currents affairs across the world but at times it could be abstract as well. My PI mostly revolved around why I want to do an MBA, what do I have to offer to the institute. They basically were testing 3 things - communication skills, clarity of thoughts & awareness.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenerio at our caollege can be described as average overall. Most recruiting company belong to the banking and supply chain sectors. Marketing students generally have better placement opportunities, while finance and HR students do get job, though the package are not very high. Buswiness analytics has limited scope as very few companies visit the campus for the roles in that domain.

Students become eligible for placements after completing 2nd semester and entering in 3rd semester. Attendance is compulsory for getting the opportunity for placements. The companies like IDBI Bank, HDFC Bank, Property pistol, Godrej Capital are available for placements. The highest paid package is 9.75 for sales and marketing. Till now( 3rd semester) 60% to 70% students are placed. There are more opportunities for sales and marketing as compared to other fields.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I did choose this course as I am genuinely interested in management and if it is healthcare management that makes me excited. There is a different teaching faculty for each and every subject. The faculties are highly qualified market professionals and experts who teach in an extremely interactive and practical way. They are very supportive. There was one exam conducted per semester which included projects and written exams.
