Remarks

College management is very strict about the rules and they do take action in case they are not followed. Management is very good, and so is security. The only con of the college is it's location, it is really far away from the city and there are no eateries nearby. If you have to get anything, you have to travel all the way to the city.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for GATE-16. My score was 576 in GATE. I have always wanted to study astronomy, so it was just the perfect chance for me. I was shortlisted for interview. The interview was based on basic physics and the panel was really supportive.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The teachers teach with an insight that the student not only understands, but also knows the physical significance of what is being taught. The labs are always open and you can go and work there at any time you want. They are equipped with well working instruments, systems and internet connection.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, there are a lot of opportunities for internship for students. I am not sure of the stipend, but they do provide accommodation and food.

Placement Experience

4.5

Bachelor students of the college have a direct placement in ISRO and DRDO. One student who is the topper of the final year gets a chance of fully funded MS. They have their tie ups with various institutes and organisation that gives a lot of exposure and opportunities for the students here.

College Events

3.5

We have Onam celebration in the college, and all other festivals are also celebrated by the students in the campus. The annual cultural fest Dhanak is celebrated every even semester, while the technical fest Conscientia is celebrated in the beginning of every even semester.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is absolutely no fees(!) for bachelor students, while nominal fees for masters, just 19k per semester(excluding the food, which is free for bachelor students, while they charge some 30 Rs per meal for masters and PhD)! This the best that can happen.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio is not as skewed as in other institutes, it is around 3:1(M:F) which is pretty much fine. There are various sports houses, and inter-house events are organised every now and then. We have an astronomical society, which keeps us learn new advances in the field. There are various other societies run by the students and are quite active.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are very clean and equipped with all basic amenities. Rooms are spacious and they have provided every student with a study table, a chair and big cupboard. Food is also good and managed very well.

Alumni/Alumna

They are very helpful, for all the information on college, academics, social life, whatever, you can always count on them for their advice.

Exam Structure

Exams are based on what is taught and they are mostly not very difficult if you have studied evenly over the semester.

Faculty

5

They have a sound knowledge of the subjects, and are very interactive. They encourage the students to participate beyond classroom and explore the advances in the field. They are available for discussions during all time of working hours and on requirement even after that.
