Remarks
PGGCG-11 is an all-girls college and one of the most reputed institutes in Chandigarh in terms of academics. Being a government institute, the fees here is reasonable. The college is affiliated to Panjab University and offers students the chance to develop holistically. The admission process for centralised courses is conducted by Panjab University whereas for the non-centralised courses, the admission process is conducted by the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The departments of Psychology and English of GCG-11, are especially renowned. Most of the teachers are qualified at the doctorate level, or are pursuing PhD.Usually, a class of 80 to 100 students is taken up by one teacher. The faculty to student ratio is not adequate.The exams are conducted semester-wise. House tests or Mid Semester Tests are conducted in the middle of the semester. In order to score well, students need to study regularly and not leave anything for the last moment.
Placement Experience
There were a few placement programmes conducted at the campus. However, not a lot of opportunities for placements.
College Events
Students can opt for societies and clubs. Joy of Giving is an annual charity fest held at GCG-11. As for the social life, most students hang around the Nescafe stall, and bask in the sun in the lawns in winters.However, in terms of social life, it is not very happening here.
Campus Life
The college campus also provides facilities such as a beauty parlour, ATM, photostat shop, stationary shop etc. The campus is beautiful, clean and green. The library is stocked with a large number of journals, books and reference material for various disciplines.The sports facilities are available for basketball, netball, athletics, cricket etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is allotted merit-wise to the students. The hostel is quite welcoming. The outing timings are limited to Sundays and Wednesdays. The Hostel mess offer good nutritious food in 3 meals a day. Tea is also offered in the evening.For students who don't get the hostel, accomodation facilities are available in surrounding areas such sector 10, 11 and 15.
