Remarks

This college has a good campus. Strict discipline is maintained over here. You will feel you are still in school. You will have to wear a uniform.Have to come to college in proper time.Otherwise you need to pay fine. However, this college has an outstanding placement facility. That is why I preferred this college over others.Apart from it,this college was quite near to where I stay. The admission process was simple. Through the counseling program,I selected this college.I remember I joined this college on 10th August 2010. We were handed over brochures of the streams of different colleges when I attended career fair.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

In my intro slide, I mentioned the career fair. There I met a person who was then a senior faculty member of IEM college. He only advised me to join electronics and communication engineering since it was in demand those days. Also I had a tendency towards electronics equipment from childhood. If I have to talk about faculty I would say it was quite good. Some were outstanding too. Around 70 students were there in our class. In our stream, there were around 10 to 12 teachers who taught us different subjects like microprocessors, signaling, basic electronics etc. Some teachers were from IIT Kharagpur, some have left job in Isro and have come to teach us.Some were normal Mtech holders. Most of them had good command in teaching. The internal exams were held timely. One internal exam.was followed by a semester. In any year we had two semesters and two internal exams. The level of internal exams was easy but the level of semester exams was easy to moderate

Internships Opportunities

4

Since I belonged to the electronics and communication stream,I took my internship in Tata Teleservices.I didn't get any stipend, unfortunately. However, the days I took the training in Tata Teleservices were worth remembering. We learned about signaling, towers, BTS, and other technical jargon. We are taken to the field also where we learnt how transmission takes place. Some of my friends took internships in Indian Railways, some took in Tata Steel where they got some kind of stipend. In fact, we had a gala time over here where we had got a great deal of technical knowledge and also fun sometimes. At the end of our training, we had to do a PowerPoint presentation where we had to summarise what we had learned in those days.We had to submit a detailed report also .

Placement Experience

3.5

The only student from the 4th year was eligible for campus placements. Every year nearly 88% of students got placed. Our batch was also not an exception. Most jobs were taken up by cse stream followed by our stream. Companies visited included Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions,ITC Infotech, Odessa Technologies, and others. The highest package of 5 lakhs was offered by Infosys.Cts offered 4 lakhs highest. The average package offered to all was 3 lakhs per annum.ITC offered 3.6 lakhs per annum. My plan after getting a degree was to join the job of CTS. Then I had dreams of an MBA in the future if possible since it would attract higher packages in the future. Many friends of mine got double offers. There were offers from. Sonodyne, Vodafone also. Since I got a job already,I didn't seat for Vodafone. Vodafone also offered a handsome package of 4 lakhs per annum.ZTE operations also took few students from our college

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first semester, we had to pay 70000 rs . The fee was hiked too much that year.From.From 2nd sem onwards, we needed to pay 40000 per semester. However, from the 3rd year we needed to pay 41000 rs per semester and in the 4th year,42000 per semester. There was a merit cum. means scholarship which was offered if you are a 9 pointer ie I mean cgpa and if your family's annual income is less than 5 lakhs per annum.I was granted 10% scholarship ie a 10% discount on tuition fees only. There were other charges like lab fees, developmental fees, etc.I had already mentioned that this college has a sound placement.I got the job as a programmer analyst in Cognizant Technology Solutions where I got a package of 3 lakhs per annum. I was just feeling over the moon the day I got the job . Just if your basics are good you will land up in getting a software job.

Campus Life

4

We had one cultural fest and one annual tech fest named as "Srey" every year. In the cultural fest, we saw singing and dancing performed by our college students only.In tech fest, students from other colleges used to participate. There were various events like maths quiz, sudoku, impromptu, robotics, etc. Apart from that cricket tournament, a football tournament also was held every year. In our common room, we had a table tennis facility and carrom also. Basix amenities provides were quite clean chairs with tables in front. Adequate fab supply was there. Staff rooms had air conditioning facilities.Library was full of engineering books. Almost each and every book required for our curriculum was present there. We generally didn't need to go outside to buy books. Apart from studies,we had ample time to be invested in indoor games, outdoor games. We really enjoyed our college days.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.
