Given the financial condition of my Family, this college was one of the most affordable. My family has had success storied starting from this college. The faculty of the English department in this college is top-notch. They handle the students with care and are knowledgeable mentors who help us work towards a better future in life. I used the official website of this college to gain more insight into the infrastructure, fees structure and courses. It is also extremely accessible for anybody living in South Kolkata. The admission was merit-based and there were eligibility lists that contained names of students who have been selected by the college's admission criteria based on their high school marks. The students were categorised into "1st list", "2nd list" and so on. The "1st list" had the students with the highest chance of getting selected into the selected department.

The course curriculum is extensive from the classics to modern American literature. It not only contains the literature but also the language aspect of English. There are 4 professors in the department with 1 Head of the Department, and the professors sometimes invite guest lecturers who hail from prestigious colleges and professors who have a rich knowledge of the subject. The guest lecturers shall provide you with more knowledge about the elements of the subject. The question paper follows the pattern set by the university and the questions are decent for the students who intend to study with concentration and dedication.

The placements provided in the college are provided by many prestigious institutions such as Cognizant and ICICI bank, with salary packages ranging from 3 to 5 lacs, per year. The placement procedure is available for students who pursue a post-graduation degree from the college. The Computer Science students have the highest chance of cracking placements from the college.

The college, being aided by the government is affordable for families from all kinds of financial background. The college has a policy to subsidize for the families are not capable of paying the fees for the courses. The college also accepts scholarships. The college gave an opportunity to the students to participate in inter-college fests and competitions, giving them an opportunity to be exposed to the world outside their college. The college has spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, an auditorium and a well-stocked library. Common rooms, a well-maintained cafeteria, medical facilities are also present to the student's aid. The centenary building of the college has air-conditioned virtual classrooms.
