Remarks
The best thing about studying in Ramakrishna Mission Shilpapitha is the positive learning atmosphere it provides, this college apart from teaching engineering embraces the values of Swami Vivekananda in its students. The college is very disciplined and strict in terms of the teaching curriculum. Admission to this college is through the WBJEE JELET exam which is conducted around March-April of every year. This college not only focuses on theoretical teaching methodologies but also provides exposure to its students by organising tech fests and other cultural events.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Electronics and Communication in this college as the faculty of this department is adequately qualified and extends every possible help to its students. There are a total of 16 permanent faculty members with 4 temporary (part time) teaching in this department of 42 students in a batch. The faculties are highly qualified with most of the faculty having M.Tech as their qualification. There are two semesters every year - one in July-August and one in November- December, it's not very difficult to pass the exams if one attends the class lectures and be consistent with their studies.
Placement Experience
Students are allowed to sit for campus placement from the 5th SEM onwards. Companies such as L&T, TATA HITACHI, SOLAR INDIA, CAPGEMINI, etc. visits the campus. The highest package offered was 4.8 LPA offered by TATA HITACHI whereas other companies offer an average of 3 LPA to students with other allowances. More than 55% of students get placed, whereas others go for higher studies. After completing my diploma from this college I am pursuing higher studies now.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
This is a government sponsored institute, so the fees are very low. The admission fee is Rs. 2000 and Rs. 350 per SEM as exam fee. The college provides a stipend for financially weak students every month. The amount of the stipend varies accordingly. Apart from this students can apply for other scholarships offered by the government.
