Remarks

I selected Asutosh college for pursuing graduation in chemistry as this college has a very good faculty for the subject which helped me a lot to clear away all my queries and know the subject better. This college also has an excellent lab facility. the admission procedure is based on merit and fees are really low. In terms of culture, the college arranges various events throughout the year where one has full exposure to different activities and to socialize. The campus is ragging free which is a very safe place for new students.

Asutosh College is one of the best colleges in Kolkata if you want to go for B.Sc in Physics or Chemistry. The college provides an excellent faculty which is one of the important things to look for while choosing a college. The teaching method is simple and easy with regular seminars held to increase the curiosity of students. The campus is big and diverse. They provide the best lab experience with updated technologies. The teachers are very friendly can regular classes are held for clearing out doubts. Each department has its own periodic exam schedule which helps a lot to maintain the study routine active.

Placement Experience

The college allows onsite placement for selected streams like BBA, computer science, mass com, etc with lucracious package. Few of the top companies hiring from the campus are Infotech, IBM, Satyam, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, etc. The average package starts from 3lacs per annum.

The college has a very affordable fee structure, they further provide scholarships based on merit and your financial status. different scholarship programs are available based on educational merit, sports, and low income. Asutosh College is located near Jatindas park, Kolkata, which makes the communication really smooth via metro. The college campus is pretty big with separate floors for every department. The college selects students on a merit basis which can a disadvantage as well as an advantage. The admission procedure is really simple and can be done online as well as offline. The college does not hold any admission for the process of enrolling.

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

In Depth Asutosh College

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks

An honest opinion by a recent graduate

I applied to presidency, st. Xavier's, but as I was from Covid batch, I couldn't meet the required cutoff for those colleges. So yes I got rejection from them. Had I given my ISC board exams, I believe I'd have scored better marks, but hard luck :) I willingly chose this college over the other colleges of Calcutta University, considering this is the best. This college gets numerous applications, so it might be difficult to get the admission, but work upon your merit and connections. There's no entrance. You need to meet their eligibility criteria which keeps get changing, so refer to their website. Your merit will be considered. You must have a good network as well.
