Course Curriculum Overview
The undergraduate programs have two components. The first component is the core program common to all students and is carefully planned to give the students a solid foundation of general education in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Sciences, Technical Arts, and Humanities and Social Sciences.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarships for Undergraduate students. Students receive full tuition waiver, and pocket allowance of Rs 1000 pm for the duration of the program. This is merit based scholarship, hence, the recipients must maintain a minimum CPI of 6.5.

Hostel Facilities
In IIT Kanpur there are 12 hostels, each having its own individual mess. Each mess has capacity of almost 150-200 seats. The executive issues of the mess are been handled by the Mess Committee. The mess committee headed by the Chairman, i.e the Warden-in-charge of the hall consists of mess accounts secretary, mess store and supply secretary and both the general body representatives.
