Remarks

Location advantage as Mumbai is the hub of business and most of the reputed companies come here for the placements. Best campus and pedagogy in Mumbai. Best fit for Finance and Marketing. Sports facilities. Decent average package.

Course Curriculum Overview

Retail management is very close to Marketing core and I have been always interested in marketing. Also, I want to pursue the FMCG sector so MBA in retail management is best suited for me. Faculty: student would be 1:15 here. Some are permanent and some faculties are guest faculties. The online mode of teaching has restricted us from answering this question precisely. We are undergoing online studies due to covid and it is not satisfactory at all.

Internships Opportunities

College brings internships but only the top 20 percent gets a worth its internship. The next 30 percent of students get 10-15k per month internship and the last 50% of the batch gets an unpaid internship. I got an internship at Mumbai in Wellness Forever and it is paid one but still had better hopes after spending 20 lacs.

Placement Experience

After we are done with our 4th trimester in Aug/Sept, the companies start coming for recruitment. The batch size of K J Somaiya is too large now (550+) so do not get into the trap of the highest and top 10, 20 percent placement thing. The average is around 9.5-10 LPA but then the fixed component is around 7.5 only. Not recommended at all after investing 20 lac rupees.

Fees and Financial Aid

College increases the fee by 1.5 lacs every year and it is not justified. The course is overpriced and the current fee for the batch starting from 2021 is around 16.5 lacs. It can go in complete online mode and therefore it is not worth it.

Campus Life

We had our annual fest Melange in online mode this year. To be honest its a complete wastage in online mode. The campus and infrastructure of the institute are wonderful but it is of no use as everything is going online and no one has visited the college. All the infra and sports facilities of the college are untouched by us and it is the end of our 1st year.

Interview Experience

We had a case discussion, a Written ability test and then a personal interview. The admission process is a mix of various components ranging from a case discussion to your academics and extracurricular CAT/XAT cutoff is around 80 percentile.

Not a dream college but a real one

Placement Experience:

The placement scenerio at our caollege can be described as average overall. Most recruiting company belong to the banking and supply chain sectors. Marketing students generally have better placement opportunities, while finance and HR students do get job, though the package are not very high. Buswiness analytics has limited scope as very few companies visit the campus for the roles in that domain.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements after completing 2nd semester and entering in 3rd semester. Attendance is compulsory for getting the opportunity for placements. The companies like IDBI Bank, HDFC Bank, Property pistol, Godrej Capital are available for placements. The highest paid package is 9.75 for sales and marketing. Till now( 3rd semester) 60% to 70% students are placed. There are more opportunities for sales and marketing as compared to other fields.

Promising campus with room for better faculty.

Placement Experience:

After sem 4 we get final placement companies in the campus there are total 200 plus companies come to the campus till september to november almost 35 companies already come to the campus. The companies are ICICI, HDFC, RISHAB WORLD, INSYNC, DENSTU, ITC, BHARAT ELECTRONICS, CORDELIA CRUISE, MORNING STAR, NOMURA, NYKA, NAUKRI.COM. the highest package was given by a company name bharat electronics for HR specialization is 12 lakhs per annum. Almost in my time there 35percent get placed. I plan after degree is first 3-5 yrs in corporate lufe then after own business.

KJ Somaiya - A lively campus

Course Curriculum Overview:

I did choose this course as I am genuinely interested in management and if it is healthcare management that makes me excited. There is a different teaching faculty for each and every subject. The faculties are highly qualified market professionals and experts who teach in an extremely interactive and practical way. They are very supportive. There was one exam conducted per semester which included projects and written exams.

No such bad remarks though. As the college is very superior and one can take admission with complete ease as the college faculty, staff, workers are very helpful and there motive is very clear and remarkable. Good post graduate program with strong cirriculum

Remarks:

Overall, I would say that I think this is a very unique course being offered by SP Jain and they are very strict with the submission timelines and quality of work. This is definitely is not a run off the mill part time MBA. The institute makes sure you sweat to earn your degree, respectfully!

THE TRUTH ABOUT KJ SOMAYA

I applied for feweer Colleges but not in Mumbai this was the only college i applied in Mumbai outside Mumbai i applied in Chennai Delhi Bhopal etc but as my parents suggested not to go far away and stay here I got approval too from many of them but when they saw I got approval in kj they said it's nice get this college u can stay here , addmission process is like hetciccccc like I have no words it soo bad , 70% I might say to be eligible cutoff for these exams are not that much so you can be chill bro...Read More

I did apply for just one more college for safety as I was very sure of getting admission in KJ. I had heard a lot about KJ's HM so dreamt of it. I availed Gujarati quota for admission. My college experience

The selection criterion includes cut-off cleared scores of CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ NMAT/ GMAT, a GD-PI round, past academic records and work experience if any. For CAT and XAT, the cut-off is usually 80-85%ile; for GMAT, the cut-off is 550-600 and for CMAT it is 85-90%ile. The group discussion is case-based.
