Remarks

I chose this college as it has a great reputation and one of the oldest colleges in Chennai. Especially the Department of English is really great and wanted to be a part of it. Most of the professors are friendly and are highly knowledgeable. One set back of my college would be the infrastructure and very few professors, say one or two being partial. The admission process is very simple, we should apply through an admission form, or online and will be called to the college based on the marks we scored. They prepare a merit list and people who show up and have enough marks will get admitted. The atmosphere is really good and no harsh rules as seen in many other colleges. I read about the college in google reviews, there were many positive reviews and hence I chose this college

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course and curriculum are really good and covers everything needed in the span of the course. Literature has always been my passion and this course is everything I wanted. There are 65 to 75 students per year and there are around 30 faculties. It was pretty sufficient. Most of the teacher holds a doctorate which is amazing and they motivate us to reach great heights. Teaching methods are impressive and are very effective. We should write 2-semester exams every academic year and before that, we had our model exams. To pass with a good score we should not skip any part of the syllabus.

Placement Experience

4

There are ample opportunities provided in the several campus drive that is conducted in an academic year. The final year students become eligible to attend the campus interviews. There are many well-known companies such as Airtel, HDFC Bank, Cafe-Coffee Day, and a lot more visit us. The highest package would be Rs. 2,40,000 per year and the average package rates between Rs.1,20,000 to 2,00,000 per year. Around 70% of the students get placed in well-known companies with a great package. Students who opt for higher studies do not take up the campus interviews. I planed to higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is very affordable and almost all the students get a 100% scholarship. The fee hike is very minimal and that too the increase is very low. There are several campus drives that are conducted in a year and the job opportunities are ample for students of every stream.

Campus Life

4

The life at the campus is really awesome as they are warm. Since the students are admitted on the basis of merit, the overall standard is pretty high and there is healthy competition. QMC Festa is the yearly culture conducted by the student union. All the students get a chance to showcase their talents in various competitions and compete between departments.

Interview Experience

4.5

There was no GD or PI for admission as the admission is purely based on the merit list of the applicants. The higher you score, the more likely you are to be admitted to the college. The applicants are called on the counseling day and the admission process is done according to the merit list.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well-structured and covers both theoretical and practical aspects. It provides a strong foundation for higher studies and career opportunities. Internal assessments and semester exams are conducted regularly, with a fair marking system. More industry exposure, internships, and skill-based training would further enhance students' learning experience.

Madras School of Economics - [MSE], Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Economics)

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well the course provides almost everything which is needed and available. This is not a normal economics course as it involves statistics, python, core math and also dives into data science. This allows the students to explore various subjects and can choose which is their best fileld. The curriculum overall is very rigorous and intense but you can crack it if you study regularly. About the frequencies of the examinations, we have 2 internal examinations and 1 end semester examination. I can guarantee that this course is super rigorous but im not sure if i would necessarily say that the course is "practical" and it helps us in the real word. I cannot comment on the practicality of the courses. The exams are not super difficult and its moderate. Getting more than 90% can be challenging although clearing the paper won't be an impossible task.
