Remarks

Profeesors are always welcoming your doubts but the office staffs act rudely in terms of administrative and financial matters.

Course Curriculum Overview

Sadly the course curriculum is designed in such a way that no thrust is given towards anything innovative or research oriented. Moreover this college is not much suitable for core engineering disciplines as the main focus of the college authorities lies on the CSE and IT department. Exam structure is again worst as studying past 4-5 years question papers would fetch you about 8.5-9 CGPA easily. No questions are designed to check your understanding of the subject. But this is more the fault of the university than the college.

Placement Experience

4

Placement happens, but only in IT sector. Even if you are from core engineering like Electrical or Electronics background, you are eligible to appear in placement drive of all companies that visit our college. These are Cognizant, Infosys, ITC Infotech, and some other companies. Cognizant and Infosys recruit the bulk of the students, approximately 70% of the students. However the college authorities will not allow you to appear for other companies if you have already a job offer from Cognizant and Infosys or ITC Infotech. The average compensation of these companies is quite less and lies in the range of 3.6 LPA to 5 LPA. CGPA matters in placement, even if it is not said. If you are the topper of your department, rest assured minimal efforts would land you with the jobs, even if you suck at coding. You just have to clear the aptitude exam which is pretty much easy. Other students can easily get the jobs with little bit of practice in programming.

College Events

1.5

There is Technical fest arranged in the college every year once. Various events are organised in the fest with students allowed to participate both from college as well as students from different colleges. No cultural fests are permitted in the college. Neither is there any freshers organised. Farewells are given by the junior batches to the passing out batch, but have to pay the college an amount to use the area in the college to hold the farewell.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is affordable. Its usually around 45000 per semester. However if you belong to economically weaker sections, scholarships are provided to either completely wave-off the tuition fee or give 50% wave-off on tuition fee. However only cheque and cash is accepted in the college for fees payment and NO digital mode of payment is being accepted.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are available only from external sources if you manage to avail one. College doesn't provide any scholarships.Fee waiver is given to economically weaker students by the University, but it is limited in number.

Hostel Facilities

There is NO hostel facilities available in the college. Most of the students lives nearby and commute daily. However, there are some students who stay at PGs nearby the college where rooms are available and around 3 students live in one room. Fooding is either provided by the PGs or there are small shops available to lunch/dine. The rent per person is around 5000-7000.

Alumni/Alumna

You will hardly find an alumni network here. Interaction with seniors is strictly prohibited for the first year students as the college is 100% ragging free. However after 1st year onward you are free to interact with seniors.

Admission

In WBJEE, with a rank of 8393 General category, this was one of the few colleges located in the heart of the city Kolkata with moderately good ranked students opting for it. I had an interest for Electrical Engineering, so I opted for this course. Moreover from searching in Google, I found this college has strict discipline which suited me.

Faculty

3

There are hardly 2-3 profeesors in Electrical Engineering department with Phd. Approximately there are 15-20 profeesors in Electrical engineering department with varying ages, some of near about 70 while some of 30-40. Average age of faculties is around 45 years. Most of them possess only m.tech degree , but none from any IITs. There are 1-2 extremely good profeesors with thorough knowledge about the subjects but rest are bad. Most of the teachers don't have any industry experience or hardly 2-5 years.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
