Remarks

This university had a campus near my home so I chose it. The main campus is not something that I was looking forward to travelling to since it is a long way from Kolkata. The classes were held only on Sundays and since I was working also this was an added benefit. The staff was helpful and some professors too. Most of all the head of the DEpartment made sure that our batch was up to date with anything happening in regards to the department including holidays, examinations and class cancellations.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum was elaborate but the way of teaching made it bearable. The course was on the verge of being updated as we were about to leave in 2019. The Faculty was decent as well. We were not given too much of exposure though since classes were held once a week.

Placement Experience

0.5

Not many companies came to visit and opportunities are very limited for the distance learners. None of my batchmates was placed since campusing was not allowed by the college for distance learners. This is something that I would like to be changed about the institute.

College Events

2

They were mostly small events however people seemed to enjoy that a lot. We were not allowed since we were the distance learning students. That is what made us a little awkward since we felt like complete outsiders not being invited to the events.

Campus Life

Campus size was small and infrastructure was also limited. Sports facilities were limited and there was no free wi-fi. The library was out of bounds for the distance learners which is a pity and I personally as an Arts student never saw the labs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.
