Wonder life experience !

Commenting about my own college :) I feel proud to be a part of UIIT, Shimla. As a student i gained knowledge as much as i could. I got amazing teachers, staff and friends there. I was able to recognise myself in my opted stream (I.T.) just because of my teachers who helped me polish my knowledge and skills. I am now more confident ad proud to called an I.T Engineer.

The course provided in the college was very good and sufficient in making the students capable of being proufly called IT engineers. I would give 9 out of 10 to the course curriculum. And yes ofcourse the faculty is also efficient and outstanding.

Internships are not offered by companies. Students do their internships by themselves in their accordingly suitable places and some do vocational and industrial trainings.

The placements and job opportunities are very good in our college. Around 70% students were placed from my batch. And also the previous records are commendable. From our batch of 70 students 40-45 students got placed. The various companies that recruited students are Infosys Ltd., Wipro Technologies, Igate, Interactive Brokers and H.P. etc. The packages offered were 3-3.5 lacs per annum.

Various events are celebrated in the college annually. Every year a Techno-Cultural Fest is organised in which technical as well as cultural events occur. Eg. Dancing Competitions such as Dharohar, Footloose etc. and singing talents showcase. Technical part includes debates, group discussions, coding, NFS, FIFA and much more. Participations are always amazing. Various colleges come and participate and thus make the events a huge success.

Fee structure is feasible. In my opinion fees in UIIT was like average .not too expensive. It was a different figure for both semesters. It was about 33, 500 in even semester and 42, 500 for the odd semester. I think it is a affordable amount considering it is Bachelor's degree in Engineering field.

Yes. Our college provided fee Weaver facility to 5 students for the whole 4 year degree. It was a Weaver of Tuition fee of ? 30, 000 every semester. This Weaver was for the students : Two of them with low income problems. Two were the girls with highest percentage scorers in their 12th examination exam.

The campus life was great and truly fun, encouraging and worth experiencing. The extracurricular activities were organised every semester. Students actively participated in games such as badminton, table tennis, football, volleyball etc. Various debates, extempore, group discussions, on the spot topics etc.were organised. Workshops were arranged by our placement head Dr. Dhirender. I remember I last attended a ethical hacking workshop in the last year of my degree.

Our college didn't provide hostel facilities to the students. But we lived in PG's there. In Shimla, PG facilities are too good. I lived an awesome time there. The rent too is affordable which is about ? 5, 500 to 6, 500 per month. The PG's provided meals 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food was good and the landlords too. The pg living conditions were also good. The infrastructure was good. We had wifi facility too.

Yes the alumini network was always supportive and helpful through out the engineering degree. They kept a contact with us and kept us boosting for varios companies and placements. They told us how to deal with the circumstances, how to crack written exams, how to prepare, how to present ourselves in the interviews we have to go through. In all our seniors were of great help to us.

The examination structure is good there. We were provided with a bit busy schedule most of the time (mainly 1st 2nd and 3rd year students) comprising of two sessional exams every 6 month semester. The labs were also frequent enough to get maximum out of the students skills.
