Remarks
Symbiosis is a huge brand name in itself when it comes to private colleges. Ofcourse when a student decides to go for an integrated law program, they usually think of National Law Universities first that is giving CLAT. I thought so too but could not qualify CLAT with good marks. Not every private university offers courses like BALLB or BBALLB. Apart from the choice of course, Symbiosis has a great faculty where the teachers are experienced in their fields and tend to make learning a little interesting for the students. The infrastructure is quite good here at NOIDA as the campus is clean and green, the security is rigid and the classrooms are spacious as well as air conditioned. Symbiosis is also famous for its moot court competitions and training which is essential for any aspiring law student. It gives its students the opportunity to do as many internships as possible which is only a plus point for the law students in order to build their resumes. Symbiosis also arranges various guest lectures for students so that they can take inspiration from the people who have achieved a lot in their life. Lastly, it focuses on both studies and curriculum so that the student knows how to manage both.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course syllabus is updated here to the latest subjects of law that are required today. Since integrated law has recently become popular among students, the course structure is exhaustive and almost the same in every law school. Being a 5 year course, the subjects to be studied each semester is more than the normal courses. The number of subjects I studied in my 1st year was 8 per semester and then in the 2nd year it got reduced to 6. Apart from the legal subjects like Torts and Contract, they also teach yo History, political science, accounts, finance and statistics, economics etc. Not just these, but this law school also try to focus on the overall development of the student by introducing subjects like Ethics, legal reasoning, sociology, environment, behavior studies etc. Students do get industrial exposure here. The college has a well laid out course plan for all students shared at the beginning of the semester so that the children can follow it and plan out their schedules accordingly. The faculty is experienced and they not only focus on theoretical teaching but also emphasise on the practical aspects of the subjects with projects, ppts, group activities etc. A student would be lucky to be taught by Mr. CJR Rawandle himself who is also the director of Symbiosis Noida as his way of teaching is not only informative but quite interesting.
Placement Experience
I still do not have much information about the placements and job opportunities at this law school however, I know that campus placement is not a thing here. Very few students make it to the top tier firms through college, the rest have to struggle hard and apply for jobs online till they find one. The college does provide recommendations to its students and also staying in this college can get you an awesome cv as the internship opportunities are high in this law school and also they keep engaging the students in different competitions. There is a training and placement cell that looks after the internship and jobs of students. The alumni network is not very strong or spread across the world however, it is quite helpful. Many of my seniors have given me useful insights on my career and jobs.
College Events
Campus life at Symbiosis depends on you because the campus is small, there are not many things to do on campus like games, sports, academic clubs, canteens, etc. Every year symbiosis organises its annual fest known as the Symfiesta where many famous celebrities like Hardy Sandhu, Kaneez Surka, Rahul Dua, DJ Shadow, they give live performances and this goes on for 3 days. The fest includes dance DJ dinging, food, games and a lot of fun. This is only for the night, during the day, many inter college activities are scheduled for the students to come and participate from parts of India. These activities include debating, dances, singing, fashion shows, bands, moot trials, drama etc. This is just the annual fest. The college also organizes Cultural evenings on a monthly basis where the students are given a theme according to which they dress and and make their own props along with the costume. We have to study and do our college chores in that dress only and also get to participate in activities planned by the college for the day. A sports annual fest is also conducted where the sportspersons get to play in the NOIDA stadium due to lack of space in the college campus.
Campus Life
The campus is honestly quite small so if you were hoping for a huge campus with fields and roads and a market, hostel area, canteens and other food shops or even a huge auditorium area then this law school will disappoint you. It does not even have one field or sports area for the students to play or hangout. However the campus is green, clean and secure. The buildings are new and fully air conditioned. The campus has a wifi for the students to use only for research and study purposes as sites like social media and netflix is blocked. Also the connectivity is not so good like the hostels do not get the signals. There is a library where you can find all the useful books for research, projects, studies, novels and even exam papers. The library is small too so it cannot accommodate many students however the library is where you can work on your assignments in peace. There are no sports facilities in this law school no matter what they say. there is a badminton court in the girls hostel which is used by everyone and that too the floor is marble. There is a basketball court which is almost broken and under construction from the very first day I step foot at this college. The students interested in sports have to make their own arrangements to practice their game.
