Remarks
1. It is a government college. Also the fact that government colleges have highly qualified professors and better facilities influenced me. 2. Keen interest in chemistry 3. It is often dubbed as Asia's best chemical engineering college 4. Placement record 5. I contacted few of the passed out students from my college and they encouraged me to join LIT 6. There are very few chemical engineering colleges and chemical engineering graduates. hence opportunities are plenty. 7. Affordable fee structure
Course Curriculum Overview
The course syllabus is quite thorough and comprehensive. It is structured in way that one gradually gets acquainted with the deeper nuances of chemical engineering. We have minor and major projects in sixth and eighth semester. We have to make projects individually. The college organized a 3-day industrial visit for students. College provides internship after sixth semester. Duration for internship varies from 20 days to 45 days. Some students even get paid internships. But because of the pandemic all internships were cancelled this year. The faculties, in general, are good. Few of the excellent faculties are SL Pandharipande SU Meshram S Shirsat to name a few.
Internships Opportunities
Yes I had opted for internship at ONGC. But because of the pandemic the internship was cancelled. In general students get to work on a live project in internships provided by the college. The Training Placement Cell makes sure that each student gets an intership.
Placement Experience
Placements are excellent at LIT. Generally more than 90% of students get placed. Having an illustrious Alumni network helps a great deal in placements. Talking of the current 2020 batch most of the students are placed. Profiles offered are process engineer, designing, floor engineer. Various companies visit the college like: Reliance- 7-8 lpa Vedanta-7-8 lpa Godrej-5 lpa Honeywell-7lpa Aviva-4lpa Thyssenkrupp-4.5lpa Thermax-4lpa These are few of the notable companies that visit the college for recruitment. For different streams different companies visit the campus. Placement Process: 1. Aptitude Test Anyone who satisfies the company criteria is eligible for the aptitude test. Company criteria may vary depending upon the company. Generally the criteria is as follows: SSC and HSC-60% Graduation: 60% 2. Group discussion Students who qualify the aptitude test are eligible for GD. GD is an elimination round. 3. Personal Interview Students who crack GD are interviewed in this round. This is the final stage in the placement process.
College Events
The campus life is interactive. Different clubs have been formed like book club, quiz club etc. For the writers in our camp we have a college magazine to publish their work. Events organized in our college are as follows: LITMUN(Model United Nations) MERGE(Non-Technical Event) REACT(Technical Event) ELITE(Cultural Event) GANESH FESTIVAL LITMUN is an attempt to simulate the United Nations at college level. It is one of the most storied and highlight event of LIT as well as Nagpur. Around 400 students were hosted by LITMUN. Merge is a non-technical event which that intends to help student in unleashing their hidden potential and discovering hidden talents. Around 350 participants became a part of the event. Technical event of the institute is REACT which is a national level conference on recent trends in chemical engineering and technology. It is often dubbed as paradise for researchers. 250 students became a part of the event. Elite is the cultural fest of LIT. It is organized in March of each year. It is an amalgamation of various events. Ganesh Festival is organized each year in August. It is a 3 day event organized and participated by LIT students. All the events in our college are completely managed by students thus instilling in them leadership qualities and managerial skills. We even celebrate hostel day with a lot of pomp. All days of national importance are also commemorated.
Campus Life
We have a large multi-purpose ground which is used for playing cricket and football. It is also used for playing volleyball. We have a sprawling 75-acre lush green campus which satiates our exploratory instincts and also provides peace of mind. Wi-Fi is available on the campus with a limit of 100 mb for each student. The library is quite large and resourceful. This year it has been renovated too. It is updated with books year. We are provided with two library cards on which we can issue 2 books every semester. Labs are quite good in comparison with other government and private institutions. Labs are good but you wont get to see labs like NITs and IITs. All experiments in the curriculum can be performed with ease in the labs. Also the necessary equipment are available both for course related experiments and project related works.
