Remarks

University of Delhi is a prestigious central university. The courses in humanities offered in DU colleges have an excellent course structure and syllabi content- especially the honours courses which will be extremely helpful for people planning to remain in academia and go for post-graduation and PhD. DRC is situated at the heart of North Campus of DU which is a student-dominated area. There are a plethora of opportunities for students in every field of interest. There are constant talks, conferences, cultural events, competitions, debates that are organized very frequently here. There are also a lot of internship opportunities available for students here. It is a fulfilling and enriching experience for any student wherein they can engage in academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities very often. The best part about my college is my faculty of professors. They are experienced and well-versed in the discipline of Literature. They are extremely supportive and encouraging are readily available to address any and all the issues of students. I opted for this course because I love the discipline of Literature and how rich and multidisciplinary it is. I also really like the syllabus structure of DU's English honours course which made me go for this particular course.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course syllabus is very good and it keeps getting updated from time to time. Just last year in 2019, certain new texts were added and some were removed from the course. There is a placement and e-cell in the college which helps students land internships and jobs. The faculty for most departments in my college is very great. I particularly know about my department and I am extremely happy with my professors. I am not sure if I am supposed to use the names of the faculty members without their consent so I would pass that question.

Internships Opportunities

I am currently doing a fellowship program under a Queer Organization based in Delhi called Nazariya. It works for creating awareness among people especially the youth and students regarding LGBTQIA+ issues. They hold workshops, conduct surveys and research, organize cultural events and competitions for queer people. Stipend- 10k

Placement Experience

3.5

I am still in 2nd year so I barely have any knowledge about the placements in detail. The placement cell and e-cell of the college are quite active. However, I have not been a part of them as I plan on getting into the field of academia, hereafter.

College Events

5

There is never a lack of opportunities in DU's north campus. It is one of the most happening student university areas in Delhi as well as in the country as a whole. There are various fests throughout the year ranging from internship fairs to the cultural fest. Also, there are many other colleges in the campus which keep organizing events which are open to all DU students.

Campus Life

The infrastructure is not very brilliant. It is an old building which has certain risky factors about it. However, renovation work is under process and there are provisions for visually and physically disabled people to navigate the college with less difficulty. The sports complex is big and well equipped with gym equipment. There is a large ground wherein various sports events take place too. The library has a decent collection of books. Students can also write to the library authorities in case they need some particular book to be brought in for their usage. There are physics, chemistry, biology, biochemistry and computer labs in the college which have the required instruments for the students. There are also music rooms in the college.

Placement Experience:

See in my course, students are not that much focused on placement! They are more focused on things like upsc, govt jobs, academics, professors, further MBA! So I do not know about the placement culture! But for someone who wants placement in GIS field there is a placement cell for geography department as well!

Placement Experience:

If seen, students become eligible for placement sitting in the third year but there are many types of internships in the post second year which you can do. The college has its own placement cell, you can join it and from there you can stay connected with the placements. There are many companies which visit the college. Job fairs are also organised in the college. Many companies, international and national, visit. Along with this, education fairs are also organised inside the college campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Subjects like Law, Management, HRM and Economics really influence my choice for this course. The law and economics part was really something that garb my attention as well as excite me the most. It really helped in understanding HR policies in depth which helped me really world a lot. The curriculum should include more practical and technical subjects which will help in the corporate world too. The exam timings were usually 2 to 3 hours max. And the exam also doesn't come too hard to pass.
