Remarks

My overall experience about the college is awesome it's very good in infrastructure and academics good in placement and it's one of the finest engineering college of north india.

Entrance Preview

J&KCET, My score was 169 out of 225. I opted for this college as it was one of the best in northern region, it was close to my hometown and i was getting the branch of engineering in this college which i desired.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum of Electronics & Communication Engineering was good and as per the industry standards. The course included the traditional engineering subjects alongwith the subjects comprising of latest technologies being used in the industry.

Internships Opportunities

I did not do internship through college during my college days, internship was not offered by companies coming to campus. Companies used to come to campus to directly recruit the students as per their needs.

Placement Experience

4

The placement is very good (almost 100%) and matches the colleges in north india. During my final year in college, around 15 companies came to campus and placement was 100%. Major companies that came for recruitment are Hero Honda, Wipro, Mahindra Satyam, Infosys, Hcl Technologies, Patni Computers, VSNL, DRDODRDO offered 4.5 lacs package, HCL technologies offered 3 lacs package, Wipro offered 2.75 lacs, Hero honda offered 4.75 lacs, VSNL offered 4.75 lacs. These packages were offered in 2006 when i passed out.

College Events

4.5

Hillffair is the cultural even that is organised annually which includes participation of 4-5 colleges. The festival comprises of fashion shows, quizzes, Technical discussions, parties, cultural programmes. Besides this, nimbus is annual technical festival that is organised in the college. It is one of the biggest technical festivals in north india.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very much feasible as it is government run college my per semester fees was less than 20000 not sure about the present fee structure though.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is really very good though gender ratio is little less as in my degree course there were 3 girls compared 42 boys extra curricular activities are just awesome. There is an annual hillfair festival that is organised in which 4-5 more colleges are invited. The festival is full of quizzes, debates, GDs, parties, fashion showe the festival lasts for 5-6 days. Besides that workshops are organised regularly both related to technical and personality development stuff.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facilities are very good one does not require to go for pg. During first and second year of course, hostel rooms are on sharing basis (3 students per room). During 3rd and final year every student gets individual room moreover the hostels are provided with lan connectivity hostels and mess match quality standards mess provides food taking care of both north and south indian students.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors have always been helpful during the college days if you have good tuning they guide you well, both in academics and extra curricular activities. Moreover ragging has been on decline in the college since i joined it.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is little hectic in between a semester that lasts around 4-5 months, there are generallt 2 cycle tests and one annual exam. Labs are generally held twice a week.

Faculty

4

Faculty of the college is good and match the standards of leading IITs and other NITs in the country. Mostly faculty is at least masters in their subject and quite a few are phds as well. The best part of the faculty is that they try to involve even the mediocre student too in the learning process in short, a disciplined faculty.

Placement at JUIT begins from the 7th semester, core branches like cSE see good placements while Bioinformatics has limited on campus opportunities, Most of them opt for higher studies or research roles. I planned to go for job.

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.
